This week's harvest! Wow. The tomatoes are ripening so quickly we can hardly keep up.
(Yes, we've had Caprese on French Bread for dinner most nights this week πŸ…).
What are you picking these days? We'd love to see -- drop a pic below.

We get so spoiled in the summer with constant access to fresh herbs. But you don't have to give up on herb growing once it turns cold. Start a second, indoor herb garden! All it takes is a few pots, a sunny window (or grow light), and your favorite plants. We just posted a new blog on exactly how to set up your indoor herb garden. Read it here: https://blog.cloversgarden.com/how-to-grow-fresh-herbs-indoors

Why grow heirloom tomatoes when they're so ________________ (fill in the blank: weird shapes, weird colors, etc.). You've heard that too, we're sure! Well, for starters they taste better. But you also can't beat a 4" tomato! That's a serious BLT right there. (Beefsteak and Caspian Pink shown here).
Why do you pick heirloom varieties? We'd love to hear ⬇️

Start your indoor seeds off right! Eco-friendly, recycled paper is easier on the plants and better for the planet. Plant directly in the soil and it will naturally decompose, protecting the plant's tender roots from transplant shock. Stock up now for 2024 gardening.

Did you know? Peat harvesting (for pots and planting soil) is not environmentally-friendly. They store more carbon than all other vegetation types in the world combined. That's why we've started a line of eco- and plant-friendly, peat-free seedling pots made entirely from recycled paper. Better for your plants. Better for our planet. Order now so you're ready for seed starting.

Finding a substitute for peat is a little like making your first cake without gluten. Here’s what the experts advise.

Every time we grow beefsteak tomatoes, we wonder "how much bigger can they grow"?!? This one plant has SIX huge tomatoes on it (the ripest is peeking out on the bottom). They are so huge, they can barely fit inside the stems. And for those wondering the secret:
πŸ…No fertilizer just lots of compost
πŸ…Thick layer of w**d-free straw mulch
πŸ…Filtered city water (we use a hose attachment designed for RVs) or rain water collected in our rain barrel
πŸ…Early season trimming of suckers and lower branches + regular removal of any leaves or branches showing stress
πŸ…Support with rubber coated cages + extra stakes (for height) with plant clips
πŸ…Zinnias, marigolds, sunflowers, and nasturtiums planted in the garden to attract pollinators

Peppers are starting to ripen (despite the nightly deer nibbles!). The longer they stay on the vine, the sweeter (or hotter) they'll get. It's tempting to pick them when they're green but be patient! In just another week or so, they'll be at peak ripeness.
(Large red pepper is C***o Di Toro; green peppers: Jalapeno Megatron; orange peppers: Orange Bell; skinny red peppers: Cayenne Slim)

We wish you could smell this Lemon Verbena! Just heavenly with lemon and vanilla tones and big beautiful stems. We picked a bunch and turned it into lemon simple syrup for cocktails. This freezes well! This delicious herb is also good with fish and poultry or made into a lemony pesto. And the more you trim it, the more it grows!

Some fun πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…history!!

There’s a reason why the humble tomato used to be known by the far more sinister moniker of β€œpoison apple”: Europeans feared tomatoes for centuries and believed they were poisonous. As recently as the 18th century, it was thought that aristocrats were falling ill and even dying after eating to...

This pepper is huge and still growing! Plus the plant is so loaded with fruit, we had to give it support. The variety is C***o di Toro (aka β€œBull’s Horn”), an Italian sweet pepper which will turn red as they ripen. Can't wait to try this grilled with some homemade sausage.

August is the perfect time to plant veggies for a fall harvest. With nearly three months left of garden season, even crops like tomatoes can be planted right now. The key to growing a good fall tomato crop is to start with big, healthy plants (just like we have in our nursery right now!). These varieties are fast-growing and early producers of lots of fruit and all thrive well in patio pots so you won't have to make room in your garden.

I have called many times and left a message. I have emailed. I ordered on line #11111494 on May 23, 2020. I received a response on the order and a follow up response that the order is being shipped and a tracking number. Nothing was received and apparently nothing sent as the tracking statement had prepared a label and was waiting for Clover for the product. I still do not have the product but you have billed my credit card. Either refund me or get it sent please. Thank you for your consideration in the matter. Chris
Went to your lovely center on Odgen Avenue in Westmont this afternoon. I was wearing my face mask, and was happy to see a sign that required face masks. But, a customer was not wearing one, and neither of the two women working inside had masks on. I left immediately. I drove a distance to shop there, and will not be coming back.
Thank you so much for all the beautiful plants you sent me.
Why doesn't anyone return phone calls at your garden center? Are you not open for business?
I ordered rosemary. Got tomatoes. Haven't been able to get company to respond. They say if things aren't 100% right to contact them. I dont want tomatoes. I want the rosrmary I ordered. I will not be doing business with them in the future. Plus the $30 tomatoe plants I received looked awful.
Thank you Clovers Garden! I purchased the 9-plant anti-mosquito set through Amazon. One Lantana plant arrived in a bad way and did not recover. I requested a replacement and yesterday I got NINE new plants! That is above and beyond, in my humble consumer's opinion. I really appreciate your wonderful customer service and I will buy from you again and again! Have a great day and keep up the terrific work!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you
