Lots going down with Sturm R***r. Started in Southport in 1949, in January they officially moved their corporate headquarters to Mayodan, NC and now they are getting smaller digs for the remaining 20 or so beancounters that will still work here. They just settled a takeover fight from Beretta that results in major ownership share with the Italian company and board members. The fear for me? Any potential changes in how customer service is handled in the name of "cost cutting". They have one of the best CS operations in the business and they should not change a thing. Other companies have made awful CS moves and I fear for any company that looses its autonomy.

I have been watching it build up for a while now. Ammo is gone. The distribution pipeline is dry and what I have is selling out fast. Anything that I put out there to try and replace it has an outrageous price on it. The only American practice ammo available is from small label houses you're not familiar with. Foreign stuff is appearing with unknown origins and performance as well as a high price. Wars. They consume the raw materials needed by the civilian market factories and we get this result. And until they stop we may have a real problem.

With pending gun legislation in the state house and my gun store being easily accessible to my local area representative, I was hoping at some point that perhaps I might be asked what I thought about some of this useless, feel good legislation, you know, because you might want to get all the sides and opinions that might matter from someone that would have immediate impact from same.......but no.

For crying outloud META! Really? I have wondered what the heck was so bad abut this page that I kept getting Facebook notices that I wasn't following the rules and my page couldn't be recommended. Could never figure out why. They allow gunstores to have a page. I wasn't selling anything directly.
A few days ago on a whim I changed the profile photo from a mint Wi******er model 70 to what it is now. Presto, I get a notice that I'm being recommended again! Boy, that's scary, that a gunstore might have (gasp) a gun picture! What a jerk outfit. Romper Room let's you have more fun. They need to babysit the ultra- scared.

Good band, good place, good food.

Definitely starting to notice that the price and availability of ammo are becoming an issue again. Prices have been pushed up and popular calibers or cartridge types are falling out of stock for protracted times. Anything that is normally a cost leader (like say 9mm Aguila 115g FMJ practice ammo) is unavailable currently. Be aware that you may not find specific stuff that you may need due to these issues. Best to know if your rifle will work well with more than just one weight or manufacturer.

I may be wrong, (have been before) but I have a feeling that by chambering Providers in .35 Rem Henry may have just saved that great old cartridge from oblivion. It's also available in 38-55! What's next, a 32-20 or a 40-65?

Well now the situation is beyond my control. SLFU is calling Sunday as a closed day already. Now no place will be open which is pretty much as it should be.
