This early piano has been an ongoing project for about three years. It came to my shop in very rough shape. Today I finally finished restoring the exterior casework, made with Brazilian rosewood veneer and solid carved rosewood legs and accents, with pleated silk panels, original antique mirrors and original brass hardware. It was built around 1825 in London (just barely after Jane Austen’s time), by William J. Stoddart. It still needs a lot of work on the hammers and playing action, so hopefully it will have a voice and be playable in a month or two.
