Wow!
Two years ago, a few weeks into the pandemic, my mom and I were making masks for ourselves with beautiful vintage fabrics.
My friend Steve had recently purchased and suggested I set up a spot there to sell them.
Thrilled for the chance to actually have human interaction (no I did not last long for the “stay at home” part of that story we all lived 😂), I packed up as many masks as my mother could make and brought them to the market.
We had lines of 20 people waiting for me to arrive, I met and talked to so many people, sharing stories about their kids in NYC, donating masks and giving masks to people who needed them.
For one full year, I would wake up and sell at the outdoor farmers market Saturday mornings, then drive over to Stockton for Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. Often I would then leave during the week for my travel work. It was a lot!
Slowly, we transitioned to making aprons and sourcing vintage home goods, and working with our friend Sharon to sell in tandem so I could actually see my family on the weekends.
It’s been a freaking crazy ride, and the people I met along the way at this market, well… I could never be able to duplicate that experience. Thank you to the universe for creating this outlet for us.
As you may have heard, the Stockton Market is closing and this is the very last weekend they are open. (Borscht Belt and Market Pizza are staying open!)
Stop by to visit these vendors, show your support and find out where they are headed because many of them have been there for 12 years and this is a huge change.
Meanwhile, I’ll be one Saturday a month for the summer markets- including Saturday, May 23!!! Stop by to visit and see all of our new goodies… stay to talk.
Sending everyone at the market lots of love and see you soon!!
