It is with great sadness we announce the passing of 4th Generation Hilton potter, Boyd Robert Hilton.

Boyd Robert Hilton, (commonly known as BR or Bob),of Newton, NC passed away peacefully at Frye Regional Medical Center on January 8th, 2026 at the age of 76 from complications from the flu that progressed over the recent weeks.

The family will post details about memorial services in the coming weeks.

The shelves may be light, but they aren’t empty! As BR continues to recover from a broken shoulder, he’s started a small amount of production for 2025! If you’re looking for a last minute mug for Mother’s Day…we’ve got a few!

We are saddened to inform you that another member of the Hilton Homeplace crew has passed away.

Judy Petrie, artist and producer of exquisite Cameo, Underglaze painted and Blue moon decorated pottery, passed away yesterday peacefully at her home in Blowing Rock, N.C.

Judy began decorating greenware on Boyd Hilton pots in the early 1980's. After his death produced pieces from various Catawba Valley potters including Charlie Lisk, Kim Ellington the Bolicks from Blowing Rock among others.

Her attention to detail and craftsmanship were obvious to all who enjoyed what she fired and produced.

We would ask for your prayers and privacy as the family mourns. A private celebration of her life will be held in the future.

We will also have a selection of pieces from BR’s personal collection available featuring painted pieces from Judy Petrie, Heritage Hilton potters,, Boyd Hilton, John Hilton, Sandy Cole, Joe Rinehardt, and others.
