Carriage House Violins is visiting Texas!🤠

🤝For the first week of the Fredericksburg Music Festival and School, CHV will be in residence at this remarkable cello festival. We will have a variety of contemporary and antique instruments, as well as an array of bows.
📸Pictured are a few of these stunning instruments, including celli by Michael Doran, Jay Haide, Anton Somers, and George Craske, as well as Artistic Director Joseph Kuipers and Daniel Lelchuk.

🎵CHV Sales Executive and Director of Artistic Events Daniel Lelchuk will also lead the 12CELLOS in concert as well as a special live appearance on Texas Public Radio.

🎻From 7–21 June, 2026, the Second Fredericksburg Music Festival and School, presented by the nonprofit TexasCellos, returns to Fredericksburg with an ambitious programme of concerts and masterclasses that places the town firmly on the global map of classical music destinations.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT‼️
🎵Carriage House Violins is honored to announce that internationally acclaimed violinist Nikki Chooi will serve as Artist in Residence for the 2026–2027 season. Chooi will be the second Artist in Residence for this groundbreaking new program, following acclaimed cellist Zlatomir Fung, who served as 2025-2026 Artist in Residence.
🌎A native of Victoria, Canada, Chooi is celebrated the world over for the charisma, versatility, and emotionally-charged interpretations that he brings to the concert stage.
🎥As part of the residency, Chooi will present recitals and masterclasses throughout the season. Chooi will also produce pedagogical content aimed at violinists taking orchestral auditions. Sure to be a highlight will be a joint to recital with his brother, renowned violinist
🎻Daniel Lelchuk, CHV’s Director of Artistic Events, commented “Nikki Chooi’s interpretative prowess and compelling stage presence, combined with his communicative and pedagogical gifts, make him a natural choice for our shop’s Artist in Residence position. Boston’s vibrant musical scene is sure to be enriched by his presence.”

New article alert🚨
📰We are proud that our Workshop and Restoration Manager In Kyu Hwang is featured in this month’s Strad magazine.
🎻 In this article, he takes us through the restoration project he took on of a patch on the back of a special Rogeri violin. As he writes, “I demonstrate my process of using a veneer to achieve an invisible restoration, in conjunction with conventional patch techniques to achieve the needed structural integrity.”
🙏🏻Due to the talent and cutting-edge methods employed, our workshop continues to set the benchmark for set-up and restoration nationally and beyond.

Final Masterclass this Season📅
🎻Celebrated cellist and Professor of cello at New England Conservatory Lluís Claret will grace our stage for the final installment of our recital and masterclass series of the 2025-2026 season.
🎶He will perform selections by the great Catalan cellists Pablo Casals, perhaps the most legendary of all cellists, as well as Gaspar Cassadó, a colorful and characterful cellist-composer.
🙏🏻The concert commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Casals and the 60th anniversary of the death of Cassadó. Yundu Wang will be at the piano.
🎫Tickets are free and availability is limited.

Last Friday, we welcomed Thomas Zwieg and Andrew Glasser to our Boston Showroom for a cello-specific event. Thomas, the VP of Product Development at Larsen, worked one-on-one with clients to find the best string setup for their cellos. The event was a unique opportunity for our clients to test and take home the new Sovereign string set in advance of its mid-May release.
