and here's a little bit of our story. Growing up, we each ritualistically visited local Southern California swap meets each Saturday morning: Manny with mom, Makenna with Dad. The treasure hunter thrifting bug has us both at an early age. After meeting in 2011, and spending many weekends frequenting thrift shops, flea markets, yard sales and swap meets around Orange County & San Diego, we started overflowing the studio apartment with awesome stuff from 'The Funky Years' (our middle school years), 1990s-2000s. A couple years out of school and into the 'real world', we were beginning to realize that the everyday corporate grind just isn't as much fun as spending our time together, creating & learning & scavenging. There is a magical energy when you get to combine all the things & people you love into our everyday lives & work. And so was born Funky Thrift, our online thrift shop: our opportunity to connect people all over the world with these awesome, high quality, local goods & memories found in our backyard!
