THIS DAY IN FAKE HISTORY: SANTA FLAWS! In 1995, a major mix-up of Store Santas happened at Eastgate Shopping Center. A printing error led to all the local Saint Nicks south of Atlanta receiving the same assignment: Eastgate! "No, no, no!" was heard much more than "Ho, ho, ho!" Things were neither merry nor bright, as all the Santas tried to sort out the mess and parents tried to explain things to their young children. In the end, the spirit of the season prevailed and all the children had a personal Santa es**rt them around the great shops of Eastgate.

THIS DAY IN FAKE HISTORY: The Newnan Boomers Baseball team celebrate wining the 1976 Single-A League Championship with fans at the Eastgate Shopping Center. Festivities were marred by a mismatch of the number of hotdogs and buns available at the Winn-Dixie grocery store, leading to the infamous Great Bun Run of 1976 that lasted well into mid-December.

This is embarrassing, but we seem to have misplaced a building. It used to be a Mazzio’s Pizza and before that rumored to be Newnan’s first incarnation of Pizza Hut. Anyhow, it’s wandered off. If you’ve seen it, please let us know. And if it doesn’t come home, what would you like to see take its place? (Too soon?)

Over time a sizable herd of potholes have taken up residence at Eastgate. As beloved as they are, all good things must come to an end… our potholes have just gotten too large and need a better home. So, today our pothole herd is being relocated to a pothole preserve in Meriwether county. Goodbye! We will always cherish our deep, colorful conversations over a wide variety of topics.
