New In! Did you know about half our stock is used? We’ll always split the difference between used and new because it’s always been my favorite way to browse for books.

About last…Thursday!! A much belated post in appreciation of my book club!! I love you guys and I love the books we read and I’m feeling emotional, now that we are officially meeting in my own space at Golden Hour. Our meet up last week was pretty perfect. We debated and discussed LONELY CROWDS at length and at first I was pretty skeptical (negative) but was outnumbered and the group completely shifted my opinion. Which was pretty cool.

Many thanks to our friends at for batching me delish Cosmopolitans to serve. They were a hit and soooo pretty.
*
Swipe for our June pick! Maggie O’Farrell’s new novel LAND! I’m pumped for this. We’re due for excellent literary historical fiction and who does it better?

Reminder! Golden Hour Book Club meets this Thursday, May 28 at 6pm. And for the first time we’ll meet at the shop! I’ve been planning to transition this monthly event to the bookstore, with its beautiful courtyard, for quite some time, but the weather has kept us on our toes.
*
To celebrate, our friends at are making us a special Cosmopolitan (longtime fave, undoubtedly thx to Carrie Bradshaw lol), so that will be available for purchase, along with a selection of wines, beer—and we also have many N.A. options.
*
Many thanks to our friends at for hosting our book club all these years. I’m a creature of routine so this is a big and bittersweet change for me!
We’ll prob be back in the winter (and in cases of crappy weather).
*
Thursday, we are discussing Stephanie Wambugu’s LONELY CROWDS! And reminder that next month’s book (TBA) will be available for pick up/purchase at the event. See you there!

New and new-ish: the new Michael Pollan; European wunderkind novelist of the moment (cannot wait to see if Lázár lives up to the hype); what is more fascinating than the Weather Underground?; pray tell, why DO we live and die for love???; the tradwife influencer bestseller (it does live up to the hype); new Emma Straub; new Gwendoline Riley; and so much more. 🩷💜

I’m thrilled to announce our May Golden Hour Book Club pick, Stephanie Wambugu’s LONELY CROWDS! Save the date for our next meet-up: Monday, June 1, 6pm.

“Luster meets The Idiot in this riveting debut novel about a volatile friendship between two outsiders who escape their bleak childhoods and enter the glamorous early ‘90s art world in New York City, where only one of them can make it.” I’ve been dying to read this novel since it first came out last year, and I think now is the perfect time to escape to this setting and era. Especially for those of us that loved American Love Story and still rewatch early SATC, but in the mood for something more complex about female friendship.

Keeping this short today, but thanks to everyone who made it out last night for our discussion of Casey Scieszka’s THE FOUNTAIN! I loved it and want a sequel and am dyyyying to watch the series or movie version. 🤞not ready to let Vera go!

Many thanks especially to the organizers of the for another amazing weekend; to for letting me help launch her new story collection; to Ms. Rebecca and author Karen Finnegan for another epic Little Friends Story Time; and to the wonderful Jeanine of .tablealtar, who manned the register on Saturday (our busiest day!) and made the most delicious ginger beer for me to serve.
*
See you next week! We’re back to our regular hours (until 5pm), but stay tuned for our new, expanded hours soon.
