What we’re actually talking about when we say ditching the dye. 👯‍♀️ I got to be in a story with some pretty amazing women in today’s . We talked about what it’s like to go gray (for me the 2nd time around), how it feels to take an honest look in the mirror, and what we do with it.
I want to be super clear, cause sometimes I can mask it with humor or cutesy… im not supporting a movement to all go gray, I’m not judging you for doing what you want with dye, makeup, fillers, whatever makes you feel great. This last year and half was a time when I had no choice but to be honest with myself, what changes I want, what I stand for, a chance to connect in a different way. For me, part of that equation was seeing what’s under the dye… really seeing and enjoying, and that manifested a new way of moving through the world. It’s exciting to turn a new leaf, right?

Honored to be alongside whose recent film about Aretha is a must see (and if you follow my daughter, you know she LOVES her so this was a biggie), who I’ve been fangirling over since I ditched my dye, and fun fact- who wrote this piece has a daughter named Maayan! 😭
But here’s my favorite part of the whole story: the lovely young woman who shot our portraits is , it was her first ever job for the Times and we will forever have this memory together. I’ll never forget my first big gig, and the women who stood around me to support it. Please let’s give her a round of applause and Mazel Tov!

SWEET SABA X ORLY WINNER! It’s taken me a week to do this post cause each time I go to write it I get too emotional & freeze. A year and a half ago we did a candy installation with for House of Peroni. I put up an ad asking for assistants, which led me to Chanel, a medical nurse looking for artistic pursuits while taking a break from the intensity of the ER. If you visited our event, you can agree she was the magic of the piece- gorgeous, poetic, and deeply knowledgeable of the botanical subject matter the work was dealing with. Skip forward to this season, Chanel is back in the ER working the front line day and night with covid-19 patients. BUT... she took the time to try my challenge , so she can have glamorous nails under her gloves. I don’t want to speak for her, so I’ll paste her statement here: “...the true essence of life is measured in our experiences. That means that being rich in experiences is the new wealth. You never get time back; isn’t time the most valuable commodity we have? I knew that when I chose nursing. I have invested my time in people and have received an abundant return. A wealth of experiences.

My name is Chanel, I am 35, a critical care nurse on the frontline of an pandemic and I am rich in experiences as a nurse. COVID-19 has given us all the space to think about where are we investing our time.

The current global health climate, especially for us as healthcare workers, is panicky and at times draining. And I may not know if this is something even I make it out of, but I know I am doing what I love and that’s nurse.”

Please join me in congratulating on her win, in glamour, and in life. We love you! And here’s a thought (for any PR reps sending me products these days... how about sending them to this goddess instead? ) 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 @ New York, New York

Me zooming in on a Monday. Also me: 🌸🖤. Been taking all your requests to heart, and did my own version of the classic egg-carton-flower-arrangement. A full step by step tutorial on my stories today, to be archived in “Corona Crafting” folder if you miss it. I hope you enjoy making use of this material, I found it truly meditative and refreshing. While making this piece I thought mostly of my dear friend who in recent years has completely changed the floral art category with her radical arrangements and kind, loving, poetic and humorous approach to flowers. We are all so inspired by her. I dedicate this arrangement to Brittany whose grandmother has just passed from covid19. May this modest arrangement serve as a blessing to you and your family, and as a reminder to love each other, be safe, stay home. ❤️

I may dress like Joe Exotic now but I feel super grounded and ready to shell out advice on food blogs. ☄️ I chatted with my friends about how I started my “candy chapter” while figuring out downtime at home, how to get inspired by unexpected things, and why we should all give ourselves a fu***ng break. Link & excerpts in my stories this eve. Thanks to a VERY PREG for taking these photos right before this ol mess began. You are incredible divine feminine! Lastly but not leastly... shop for all your home cooking pleasures, they’re a small female-owned biz in need of our support.

My favorite designer is back in town. 🌊 For years I wore dresses as my uniform, she knows how women want to feel, be seen, and heard. Some of the high points in my career were while wearing her looks from . She’s back in New York with the most gorgeous line of surf and sea inspired pieces (most of it is actually made for legit surfing) and I couldn’t be more thrilled to help her celebrate this week, kicking off 2020 with one of my favorite women: Abigail you have always been such an inspiration, I love you and im so excited! Check out my stories for a great article on about and the biodegradable neoprene substitute she’s using, as well as lots of insanely gorgeous pics from their look book shot in the middle of the ocean.
