What we’re actually talking about when we say ditching the dye. 👯♀️ I got to be in a story with some pretty amazing women in today’s . We talked about what it’s like to go gray (for me the 2nd time around), how it feels to take an honest look in the mirror, and what we do with it.
I want to be super clear, cause sometimes I can mask it with humor or cutesy… im not supporting a movement to all go gray, I’m not judging you for doing what you want with dye, makeup, fillers, whatever makes you feel great. This last year and half was a time when I had no choice but to be honest with myself, what changes I want, what I stand for, a chance to connect in a different way. For me, part of that equation was seeing what’s under the dye… really seeing and enjoying, and that manifested a new way of moving through the world. It’s exciting to turn a new leaf, right?
Honored to be alongside whose recent film about Aretha is a must see (and if you follow my daughter, you know she LOVES her so this was a biggie), who I’ve been fangirling over since I ditched my dye, and fun fact- who wrote this piece has a daughter named Maayan! 😭
But here’s my favorite part of the whole story: the lovely young woman who shot our portraits is , it was her first ever job for the Times and we will forever have this memory together. I’ll never forget my first big gig, and the women who stood around me to support it. Please let’s give her a round of applause and Mazel Tov!
