Rainbowjazz

Rainbowjazz Rainbowjazz hosts a small, Independent Record Label and Publishing Company Featuring the work of Mickey Bass with some of the finest in Jazz Music.

A small, Independent Record Label specializing in; Limited Editions of Rare Recordings - Collectors Items, by some of the finest in Jazz. In 1989 “Early Bird” Records was formed, thereby offering an alternative; creating a window of opportunity, for less ‘mainstream’ Artists to record, to be heard, and for their Legacy to be passed down. At that time there was; a “Blue Note” ‘sound’, immediately i

dentifiable as a ‘Blue Note’ Record; “Columbia” Records too, who produced records with incredible clarity of sound, epitomized on a wonderful recording: “Dave Brubeck does Disney” , later too Miles Davis set a ‘tone’ with “Sketches of Spain”. There was also Atlantic Records……

When “Early Bird” was formed, it too, set out to establish its’ own particular, unique ‘sound’.…. A ‘sound’ that spans the decades honoring the Masters of ‘Be-bop’ and their traditions, bringing forward through the present and well into the future a totally unique sound that is immediately identifiable; “Early Bird Records” for the very finest in Jazz listening.

The day of the singal name Bandleader is almost at an end, simply because there only two commercially advertising radio stations in the whole country. That means that night clubs, concert and festival promoters, musical instrument companies, Jazz magazines and the like have no place to advertise their events and products except in printed media.

Basically people turned on the radio when they drove to work in the morning as well as when they came home from work. That is what has killed touring bands in this country as well as singal named band leaders in this country, not to mention no royalties from air play on radio stations because Jazz as we know it has all been relegated to either and NPR radio station or a Pacifica radio station or a college radio which give you exposure but no royalties. That has Jazz and touring bands in this country!!!

To keep Jazz and it's traditions Alive and Well is all up to us, since all of the our major Icons for the most part are all dead. So it is up to the remainder of us who are still alive to this music and culture live. Bring the music back to our own neighbor Harlem where BeBop was born at Marylou William house where Monk, Bud and Elmo all studied learned touch at the piano as well as Minton's Playhouse was the spawning ground where Mink's bang was the house where BeBop got it's Roots.

Keep BoBop Alive and Well and Living back home in Harlem where it all began.
