PRESS RELEASE
21 Years of Vision. A Legacy of Fashion. A Mission of Purpose.
Houston Fashion Week® — Founded by Victor Quinteros Marquina
In 2004, while thriving as a fashion photographer at New York Fashion Week, Victor Quinteros Marquina envisioned something bold: a fashion movement rooted in Texas, with Houston at its center. That vision became Houston Fashion Week®—the premiere fashion week in the state, and a powerful launchpad for emerging designers.
What began in Houston has since grown into a statewide network with:
Austin Fashion Week®
San Antonio Fashion Week®
Dallas Fort Worth Fashion Week™
Each of these brands is officially owned, developed, and trademarked by Quinteros, forming the only unified, professional fashion showcase platform in Texas.
Leading the Way — Setting the Standard
Houston Fashion Week® pioneered the formal trademarking and professional organization of a “Fashion Week” brand, bringing order and legitimacy to a fragmented scene. It took years, but the larger and more famous New York Fashion Week has now followed Houston’s lead, with IMG officially trademarking the name, ending decades of confusion, overlapping events, and chaotic branding in New York.
This milestone marks a major shift in the fashion industry—proof that Houston’s early vision set the example for the nation’s most prestigious fashion capital.
Honoring the Authentic. Calling Out the Counterfeit.
Despite the integrity of this vision, confusion persists. Unaffiliated, unlicensed events continue to use names like *Fashion Week Houston* or *Texas Fashion Week*, misleading sponsors, designers, and vendors with empty promises and unprofessional productions.
Houston Fashion Week® remains the only trademarked and internationally connected platform of its kind, representing Texas in New York, Milan, London, and Paris, while nurturing talent through powerful digital tools and commerce strategies.
A Movement Fueled by Compassion and Justice
Fashion is our platform—but purpose is our mission.
We are still grieving the unjust killing of Jack and Zeus, two beloved Siberian Husky service dogs who worked alongside us and provided support to children with special needs. Their lives were taken by a county sheriff and ASPCA agents, in an act that shook our community and exposed a devastating lack of training and compassion from institutions that should protect—not destroy.
Their loss ignited a movement:
To protect service animals. To demand accountability. And to ensure that children with autism and other conditions can safely rely on their animal companions without fear.
Through our support of the Siberian Husky CAMP of America, and our ongoing work in the fashion world, we fight to create a culture of respect, understanding, and safety for those who depend on service animals every day.
We will not be silenced.
We will not stop.
21 years strong, Houston Fashion Week® is more than a fashion event.
It is a force for design, for dignity, and for those who deserve both.
Thank you for standing with us—for the fashion designers, for the children in need of Service Animals, and for the Huskies who gave everything.
