You might recognize this Selmer Paris Reference 54 Alto from our “Coming Soon” section.
We took this one in with severe bottom bow damage. It has just come off the bench after a full overhaul, during which we professionally restored the bottom bow to its original shape. In the process of replacing the bottom bow guard and performing the necessary dent work, we chose to remove the small amount of remaining lacquer in the surrounding area to create a cleaner, more consistent appearance.
After the overhaul, this horn is playing amazingly from top to bottom! These are some of the best modern Selmers available, and this one is no exception despite its previous damage.
The original neck came to us stripped of its lacquer and shows no signs of damage or previous repair work. The matching bare brass bow and neck contrast beautifully with the lacquered body, creating a unique two-tone look.
