Love Buffet Crampon Chadash Barrel?

Meet the creator - Guy Chadash

Chadash Clarinet is devoted to the art inherent in making a fine instrument from the highest caliber materials. Each instrument is made by taking the time to hand-fashion, build, and then finish each instrument without being overly subjected to time, management, or other typical corporate restraints. As one who is influenced by the classical tradition of clarinet history and development, I believe in continuing and preserving that tradition, carrying it over to today's necessary adjustments in the tuning of a 12th or the sound and ring that have become a necessity to today's orchestral sound.

Clarinet acoustics

Among wood wind instruments, the clarinet occupies a special place in terms of its acoustic properties. Its sound channel is a cylinder (“closed” on one side), which makes it different from other similar instruments:

✅ the lower notes available to the clarinet sound an octave lower than that of instruments with the same channel length - flute and oboe;
✅ in the formation of sound, especially in the lower register, almost exclusively odd harmonic consonances are involved, which gives the clarinet timbre a specific color;
✅ at the first increasing the strength of breathing, the sound leaps immediately to the duodecyma instead of an octave, like in other woodwind.

It was the impossibility at first to fill the duodecima interval with a chromatic scale that slowed down the entry of the clarinet into the orchestra and led to the formation of a more complex valve system than on other woodwind systems, as well as the diversity of the systems themselves and the differences between them. The addition of new valves, rods, screws and other mechanism elements helped expand the clarinet's range, but made it difficult to play in some keys. To avoid difficulties, musicians use two main types of clarinet - clarinet in A and clarinet in B.

Clarinet & Jazz 🎶✨

The clarinet is one of the main instruments of jazz, which was undoubtedly attracted by the romance of its timbre. It was especially widely used in the early stages of the formation of this style, in the New Orleans period. Prominent jazz clarinetists include Sidney Besche (1890-1959), Johnny Dodds (1892-1940), Jimmy Noon (1895-1944), P.W. Russell (1906-1969), Barney Bigard (1906-1980), Artie Shaw (1910 -2004), Woody Herman (1913-1987), Eddie Daniels (b. 1941). One of the most famous musicians of this genre is Benny Goodman (1909―1986), who, in addition to jazz, successfully performed classical works, including those dedicated to him by contemporary composers.

The bass clarinet is increasingly used in modern jazz. One of the first popularizers of this instrument was the saxophonist Eric Dolphy (1928-1964), and among contemporary musicians, one should name John Serman (b. 1944).

The clarinet was also attended by composers of classical music, who used elements of jazz in their compositions: the famous "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin begins with a clarinet solo, written in the tradition of jazz of that time, the clarinet solo is also played in Gershwin's musical "Strike Up The Band".

Clarinet & health benefits

Classes on wind instruments help to strengthen and improve breathing. When playing, resistance to the flow of exhaled air is created. It helps to open up the structural units of the lungs - aveoli, develops lung tissue, increases lung volume and improves gas exchange. Therefore, wind instrument practice is beneficial for asthma, chronic bronchitis, and other breathing problems. Also, it is noted that playing wind instruments relieves insomnia, cures nervous disorders.

And of course, it is very pleasant and exciting😉

Mozart & Clarinet

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played a significant role in the development of the clarinet as a full-fledged instrument and the expansion of its repertoire. He became acquainted with the clarinet, presumably in 1764, while working with the score of one of the symphonies of C.F. Abel.

In these compositions, the clarinet parts are relatively simple: Mozart could only rely on the availability of instruments with a simple five-valve mechanism. It was only in the early 1780s that he began to use this instrument more actively: all operas, starting with Idomeneo, involve the use of clarinets.

The clarinet also appears in Mozart's chamber music: in serenades for winds KV361, KV375, KV388, Quintet for winds and piano KV452, Trio with viola and piano Es-dur KV498 (1787), Quintet for clarinet and strings A-dur KV581 (1789). The last two works were created with the expectation of the performance of the outstanding clarinetist, friend of the composer, Anton Stadler, and assumed the use of a clarinet with an extended downward range.

Clarinet history

The clarinet appeared in the late 17th - early 18th centuries. The Nuremberg music master Johann Christoph Denner worked hard on this instrument. Actually, the master tried to improve the design of the chalumeau (pipe). In 1701, a bell appeared on the new Chalumeau. By the way, the sound also became similar to this instrument, the name of which comes from the Latin word clarus - "clear".

It became obvious that this is a completely different, new musical instrument. Thanks to its shapes, the instrument was called clarinetto. It is an Italian name that means "little clarino". The musical instrument was called "small trumpet", and the very name "clarinet" is a diminutive of clarion.
