| The Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce, NJ (HCLACC) acknowledges Nancy Aleman as the recipient of the Community Health & Resilience Leadership Award at , highlighting her role in expanding community-based health access and preventive care across Hudson County, New Jersey.

Nancy Aleman serves as Director of Outreach and Marketing at Hoboken Family Planning, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in 1972 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3), where she leads outreach strategies focused on health education, communication, and program development. Her work supports access to family planning services, reproductive health care, and preventive screenings, with a strong focus on communities facing structural barriers to care.

Her commitment to health equity led to her appointment as President of the Community Advisory Council of the Alliance for Equity in Cancer Care by RWJBarnabas Health. Previously, as Director of Community Outreach at CarePoint Health, she coordinated a mobile medical unit program that delivered health services and preventive screenings to thousands of residents throughout Hudson County. With experience living in four countries and fluency in three languages, she brings a multicultural perspective to her leadership in community health. | The Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce, NJ (HCLACC) honors Maria Rios as the recipient of the Future-Driven Leadership Award at , recognizing her pioneering leadership and long-standing commitment to innovation in waste management, recycling, and renewable energy solutions.

María Ríos is the first Hispanic owner of a multi-million-dollar business in solid waste, recycling, and waste-to-renewable energy management as President and CEO of Nation Waste, Inc. In 2021, the United States Congress officially declared September 7 as Maria Rios Day, presided over by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. In 2006, she received the White House Gold Medal, awarded by former President George W. Bush in recognition of her entrepreneurial trajectory and business success.

Guided by faith, discipline, and determination, María Ríos completed her education at Houston Community College (now known as Houston City College) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Houston. She later completed the Entrepreneurship Educational Scaling Program at Stanford University and the Executive Education Program at Dartmouth College. A strong advocate for education and professional development, her career reflects a commitment to leadership grounded in preparation, innovation, and long-term vision. | The Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce, NJ (HCLACC) proudly announces that Rosita M. Romero will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at , in recognition of her extraordinary career as a community leader and advocate for Latina women, immigrant families, and social justice.

Ms. Romero is the Emeritus Executive Director and co-founder of the Dominican Women’s Development Center (DWDC), a community-based organization she helped build over 37 years to serve Dominican and other Latina women in Washington Heights and Inwood. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised between Puerto Rico and the United States, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of New Haven, a Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Executive Management from Columbia University. In 2025, she received an honorary doctorate from Universidad Instituto Socrático Americano in Veracruz, Mexico.

Her work has focused on housing, women’s rights, domestic violence prevention, immigration, and family advocacy, and she has played key roles in numerous coalitions and civic initiatives across Northern Manhattan. Through decades of service, Ms. Romero has empowered generations of women to lead, organize, and defend their communities. Through this recognition, HCLACC honors a lifetime devoted to justice, dignity, and collective progress. | The Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce, NJ (HCLACC) is honored to announce that Dr. Patricia Campos Medina will receive the Public Policy & Economic Justice Leadership Award at , in recognition of her distinguished career as a political leader, educator, and advocate for labor and economic rights in the United States.

Dr. Campos-Medina is a political scientist and public policy expert on labor rights and U.S. trade relations, and a Visiting Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. In 2024, she was a candidate for the United States Senate in New Jersey, becoming the first woman to appear on the ballot for that office. She is the President of Latina Civic Action and a board member of PODER PAC, organizations dedicated to advancing the political representation of Latina women. She currently serves as a faculty member and Executive Director of The Worker Institute at Cornell University.

Her leadership has shaped institutions, unions, and communities by bridging scholarship, activism, and public service. Through this recognition, HCLACC honors a career devoted to expanding opportunity, strengthening democracy, and opening pathways for future generations of women leaders. | On Saturday, May 10, the graduation ceremony of marked a milestone moment for Latino entrepreneurship in Hudson County. Spearheaded by the Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce, NJ - Hclacc, this transformative initiative was created to empower aspiring Latino business leaders with the tools, mentorship, and mindset to succeed.

Held at the Culinary Conference Center on the North Hudson Campus of Hudson County Community College (HCCC), the event was a vibrant celebration of ambition, resilience, and . HCCC has been a steadfast partner in this mission from the very beginning — a collaboration that continues to shape lives and spark .

The room pulsed with as Joseph Caniglia, Executive Director of the North Hudson Campus — representing HCCC President Dr. Christopher M. Reber — and Dr. Ingrid Echeverría, widely respected as “The Lawyer of ,” delivered inspirational addresses. Their words uplifted the graduates and recognized their journey — from dreamers to doers.

In a powerful keynote, Heidi Castrillón, President and CEO of HCLACC, reminded attendees that FuturePreneurs is more than a business course — it's a movement. “Entrepreneurship is the heartbeat of our — driving innovation, creating jobs, and building communities,” she said. “FuturePreneurs is a testament to the power of education and . But beyond that, it reminds us of the strength found in unity, collaboration, and purpose.”

Over 12 immersive sessions, 40 determined participants explored vital topics such as marketing, finance, , and business planning. But what set this program apart were the intangibles — the confidence, discipline, and entrepreneurial mindset cultivated throughout the journey. The program equipped graduates not only with , but also with a belief in their power to create local impact with global vision.

This initiative is part of a larger movement under the theme — a bold effort to reshape the narrative around Latino success in America. The continued support from Hudson County Community College — led by President Dr. Christopher M. Reber — has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Together, and are building a powerful pipeline of opportunity, mentorship, and transformation for Latino entrepreneurs in the region.
