Nearly 100 years old and still a powerhouse 🎺

Model: 1927 Conn 22B New Symphony Gold-Plated Bb/A Trumpet w/ Full Kit

This vintage 1927 Conn 22B New Symphony Bb/A trumpet features gorgeous gold plating alongside the distinctive portrait engraving by legendary Conn engraver Julius Stenberg, which extends all the way up the bell to the back turn.

There’s no pinky hook or 1st slide saddle, as was popular in that era. The main tuning slide pulls to A, or you can use the included alternate tuning slide with Bb/A change valve for an even quicker switch.

Despite its small bore and bell combination, this horn plays with a surprisingly open feel and a full, vibrant sound. It’s a nimble setup that would feel right at home in a soloist’s hands while still offering plenty of versatility for all-around playing.

Full kit includes:
Alternate main tuning slide w/ Bb/A change valve, straight mute, two mouthpieces (BI-222 and Conn 4), lyre, cleaning rod, and original case.

Another great Monette MB-111 Bb trumpet just landed at JLB 🛬

Model: Monette MB-111
Price: $9,000
Case: Original Monette leather case

This pre-owned MB-111 comes finished in raw brass and is in very good overall condition. It may be Monette’s “entry-level” trumpet, but there’s certainly nothing entry-level about the way it plays.

The horn offers a wide sound that can get dark and creamy with an all-around mouthpiece like a Bach 1 1/2C, while our playtesting also found that it lights up very nicely with a lead mouthpiece. The rounded main tuning slide and ML-plus bore give it a feel that’s secure while still remaining free-blowing, and both the valve action and compression are excellent.

There’s some faint evidence of previous repairs to the third slide crook, along with some surface wear throughout, but no pitting or red rot and no signs of significant trauma.

Spotlighting a can’t-miss flugelhorn from the Jon Lampley Collection

🏷️ Price: $2,500
Model: Courtois AC154R

This pre-owned small-bore, large-bell Courtois flugelhorn in lacquer came to us from Jon Lampley’s Collection (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Huntertones, Lake Street Dive, and MANY more), with the instrument playing like an absolute dream.

The direct airflow system between the valve casings gives it a slightly more open blow than you might expect without making you feel like you’re falling in, while the large gold brass bell gives it a warm, buttery, dark sound with tons of presence.

We gave this flugel a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment, and the valve action is superb. The instrument does show lacquer wear and cosmetic blemishes throughout, along with evidence of some minor repairs here and there. No case is included.
