Schwarzman building, dedicated on May 23, 1911, on 42nd Street & Fifth Avenue, is often referred to as its ''main branch'' and houses outstanding research collections in the humanities and social sciences, as well as a circulating children's collection; and plays host to numerous talks and special events. Standing proudly before this Beaux-Arts building are "New York's most lovable public sculptur
es, the lions Patience and Fortitude." Within this landmark building is an emporium for the best in all book related products, the Library Shop's thousand of items range from classic and modern books for adults and children, desk items and toys, quirky gifts, fun souvenirs, a wide selection of fashion accessories, and an exclusive collection of New York Public Library quote inspired designs. The much loved lions, Patience and Fortitude, have also contributed to a line of products ranging from bags to bookends. Like the Library, shop selections are chosen to inspire leaning and advance knowledge.
