🌴 We’ve recently connected with a lot of new followers and I wanted to take a movement to reintroduce ourselves!!

Yabisi, meaning “Tree” in Taíno, is a living ecosystem of ancestral remembrance—rooted in earth medicine, community, culture, and spirit.
throughout the diaspora, Centros have always been spaces where ritual, healing, and cultural memory are practiced, protected, and passed on. Yabisi is our offering within that lineage.

our work moves through four branches:

• The School of Remembrance — a year-long journey into Caribbean diasporic practices, Curanderismo, Herbalism & Espiritismo
• The Botanica — sacred earth medicines + ritual tools
• The Healing Ecosystem — a network of integral practitioners & facilitators
• Events & Gatherings — spirit-centered experiences honoring our traditions

healing is an act of remembrance.
and we are here to support you in weaving these practices into your everyday life.

rooted in the Bronx, NY
and moving throughout the world 🌎✨

We Are Warriors ⚔️ 🌿

Last night we gathered to remember what it means to call on the warriors of our lineage.

We are moving through a time many traditions would name as spiritual warfare—and in moments like this, our ancestors did not disconnect.

They reached back.
To the Earth.
To the plants.
To the Orisha.

We explored this year’s Letra del Año, where Oshún + Ogun guide us—asking us to move with both emotional wisdom and embodied action.

🌿 Basil for cleansing + protection
🌿 Dandelion for resilience + strength

And we closed with spiritual sweeps—practices to clear, fortify, and protect the spirit.

This is the work.
Not just learning—remembering.

🌚Happy New Moon in Pisces 🌑

A portal of deep feeling, intuition, and surrender—an invitation to soften into the waters within.

🌊 There are parts of us that live beneath language.
Waters that hold memory, grief, intuition, dreams, and ancestral knowing.

In this month’s Substack, we journey with Olokun—the Orisha of the deep ocean—to explore the psychosomatics of the body, the intelligence stored in our tissues, and how the subconscious speaks through sensation, emotion, and dream.

We explore:
* Where Olokun lives in the body (and why the feet matter)
* How to descend into the depths without becoming overwhelmed
* Herbal allies that support dreaming, regulation, and emotional flow
* The relationship between ancestral memory + the nervous system

This is an invitation to slow down, ground, and listen—
to what the waters within you have been holding.

🐚 Honoring the women who hold, guide, and heal 🌿

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re proud to introduce the practitioners of the Yabisi Healing Ecosystem—a collective of powerful women rooted in ancestral wisdom, integrity, and deep care for community. Each of these healers has been woven into this work over time, carrying lineages, practices, and offerings that support remembrance, restoration, and transformation.

🌴 Yabisi, meaning tree in Taíno, reminds us that we are not meant to grow alone. Like a thriving ecosystem, we are strengthened through connection—each practitioner a branch, a root, a medicine within the whole.

Through the “Book the Ecosystem” tab on our site, you can connect directly with each healer and explore their offerings. Yabisi serves as the thread that brings us together—but the relationships you build are your own.

We can sustain ourselves individually, but we truly flourish together.

Applications to join the ecosystem will be opening soon 🌱

🌿 PLANTCESTOR SPOTLIGHT 🌿

This week, I’m highlighting some of our warrior medicines from the apothecary—

These are traditional medicines that cultivate deep roots and even deeper connection to your warriors—seen and unseen. Each offering was created through deep reflection, channeling, and intimate relationship with the Earth.

Cohíba is a powerful spiritual water rooted in sacred to***co traditions and a family recipe received through dreams. Inspired by the grounding medicine of Mapacho (wild to***co), this agua bendita is crafted to cleanse, protect, and anchor the spirit. Formulated with Mapacho or Cohíba to***co from my personal garden, cannabis flower, ruda, yarrow, ceiba, white oak, snakeroot, and other proprietary allies, it supports clearing heavy energy, strengthening spiritual boundaries, and creating protected space for prayer or healing work. This is sacred smoke in liquid form—a tether to your roots and a shield for your spirit.

I am also sharing a Mapacho Flower Essence (newly added to the site), sourced from my personal garden. This is Mapacho in its gentlest form. Mapacho supports energetic fortification, grounding, and clarity—especially during times of psychic openness or transition. It helps the spirit remain open without becoming porous, and rooted without rigidity.

These medicines are especially supportive for practitioners, empaths, and those who walk between worlds—offering protection, presence, and ancestral connection.

🔱 The Orisha Olokun & Pisces: The Mysteries Beneath the Surface 🌊

There are forces older than language, older than form, older than the stories we tell to make sense of the world. Olokun is one of them.

Olokun is the Orisha of the deepest ocean — not the shoreline, not the waves we can see, but the lightless depths where pressure transforms everything it touches.

In my spiritual path, Olokun’s terrain moves hand in hand with Pisces — the final sign of the zodiac, ruler of dreams, intuition, the subconscious, and the unseen emotional currents beneath waking life.

Both teach us the same truth:
depth is not meant to be conquered — it is meant to be related to.

Patakis tell us Olokun lives at the bottom of the ocean, bound by chains. Not as punishment, but as containment — because the power of the deep waters, like the subconscious itself, can overwhelm when approached without reverence.

In this month’s essay I explore:
• Olokun as one of the oldest Orisha
• their connection to Pisces & Neptune
• the Middle Passage and ancestral memory held in the ocean
• why Olokun is beyond gender — an essence rather than form
• and how we can work with the deep subconscious during this heavy Pisces season.

In a world obsessed with visibility, Olokun reminds us:
the most powerful forces move unseen.

On this International Women’s Day, we honor the women who tend the roots of this space. 🌿

Yabisi is a Latina-owned and operated centro, lovingly held by two mothers — and — who work behind the scenes and in the soil, weaving together the medicines, gatherings, and daily care that keep this space alive.

Women are portals. 🐚
For life. For memory. For healing.

Like the plants we work with, we are forces of nature — tending to community, crafting medicines, holding ceremony, and creating a place where people can slow down, reconnect, learn, explore, and express who they truly are.

From the herbs steeping in our Botanica, to the candles lit for ceremony, to the conversations shared over tea — every corner of Yabisi carries the care of women who believe deeply in ancestral knowledge, plant medicine, and the power of community healing.

Today we honor the women who came before us, the women walking beside us, and the women still finding their way home to their medicine.

Feliz Día Internacional de la Mujer.
With love from the women behind Yabisi. 🌿

There comes a moment on the path when the whisper becomes impossible to ignore.

A knowing that the gifts you carry are not just for you.
That your medicine, your sensitivity, your ability to guide, hold space, or work with spirit was given for a reason.

Many of us feel this calling… but courage is required to truly answer it.

The School of Remembrance was created for practitioners and emerging healers who are ready to deepen their path and root their work in lineage, responsibility, and ancestral practice.

Over the course of this year-long program, we reach back to our diasporic ancestors to remember the rituals, cosmologies, and practices that grounded them, guided them, healed them, and helped them carry their medicine forward.

Through teachings with elders, refined practitioners, and spiritual leaders, we explore lineage, cultural context, and rooted ritual practices so that we can move forward with integrity and clarity.

Because remembrance is not just about looking back—
it is about carrying the medicine forward.
