Meet Malick 🤍
Our lucky charm and a very special part of the narrative throughout all 31 years of being a boutique flower business in NYC.
Malick first came to us as a neighborhood window washer at our very first design studio. After seeing his joy and hard work, we knew he was the perfect fit to become our very first full-time hire. Over the decades, he has truly become family. Today, his sons are part of our Fleurette family too, a beautiful reminder of how love, loyalty and community can live on through generations. ✨
There’s one story about Malick that has stayed with me forever…
Years ago, after producing countless weddings and events, we would often have hundreds of used candles left behind. We had no use for them, yet Malick would always gather them to take home.
One day, I asked him why.
He told me he shipped them back to his village in Gambia, where most families live without electricity and use the candles to light their homes at night.
It was such a simple act, yet it completely shifted my perspective. It reminded me that the things we may overlook can become life-changing for someone else. That sustainability is not only about reducing waste, but also about humanity, purpose and caring for one another in ways we may never fully realize.
Thank you, Malick, for teaching us that beauty means so much more when it gives light to others. 🤍✨
