Word Up is a community bookshop in Northern Manhattan. Originally conceived of as a month-long “pop-up” shop, Word Up and its 100% volunteer-powered staff of local residents have sold and/or distributed thousands of books to individuals and organizations, hosted more than 200 performers (as of the end of September) on the shop’s stage through a rigorous events progr

am, and provided neighbors with a regular, safe venue in which to gather, debate, and engage with others who live in the shop’s immediate environs, on the block, down the way, up the street, and around the corner.

Word Up es una librería que durará un mes, empezando con el Paseo de las Artes/Uptown Arts Stroll. Habrán lecturas, obras de teatro, talleres, discusiones, y más, con escritores y editoriales locales. Esperamos que la idea de una librería multi-lingüística de interés general en el centro de nuestro vecindario tendrá un gran impacto y que el proyecto—éste o uno parecido—pueda seguir durante todo el verano y después. De junio 14 a julio 14, el horario de la librería será L-V 4-9PM, Sabado y Domingo 12-4PM, más algunas excepciones para eventos especiales. FAVOR fijase que la dirección ya no es la 3855 Broadway, como anteriormente se anunció.
