Radical Fencing Signs Tristan Szapary, and Philip Matsakh to Team Radical
NEW YORK, NY, June 20, 2025—
Radical Fencing is delighted to announce its newest sponsorship agreements with Tristan Szapary and Philip Matsakh.
Tristan is a highly accomplished senior épée fencer born in Philadelphia, based in New York, and coached by Alexey Cheremsky of the Fencers Club.
Ranked USA #3 in Seniors, and 48th in the world, Tristan will be representing the U.S. in the upcoming 2025 Senior World Championships and 2025 Pan American Championships. Tristan previously competed for the U.S. at the 2023 World Championships.
Domestically, Tristan has won three Div-I NACs, including the 2022 April National Championships, and reached top 16 at his most recent World Cup in Bogota, Colombia. At the collegiate level, Tristan fenced for Princeton University, claiming the NCAA individual title in 2024 and Ivy League individual title in 2023, and served as captain during their 2024 Ivy League team championship, Princeton’s first since 2017.
“We have great confidence that Tristan will continue to succeed and shine on the world stage” said Philippe Bennett, Owner and Founder of Radical Fencing. “Tristan has the talent, focus, confidence, intelligence and tenacity that is needed to succeed in our sport.”
“Figuring out how to continue seriously competing after college is a challenge for every fencer.” said Tristan Szapary. “I am grateful for Team Radical's support, which is helping me put the pieces together and make this a reality. The quality of their equipment, including their fencing floor that I train on at the FC, their all-leather hand made new tech glove, and sleek, well thought out LIBERTY fencing bag, means I can step onto the strip with confidence and only have to focus on one thing –– scoring touches."
Radical Fencing is also incredibly pleased to announce its sponsorship of Philip Matsakh, a highly accomplished junior foil fencer based in New York coached by Slava Grigoriev at the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club.
Philip is the first junior fencer sponsored by Radical Fencing. He holds an A25 rating, recently achieved Bronze at the Junior Olympics, and captained Team USA to a bronze medal at the Cadet European Fencing Confederation Cup in Budapest.
“We are excited to welcome Philip to Team Radical,” said Philippe Bennett. “His talent, energy, dedication and passion for fencing forecasts a very bright fencing and academic career for Philip.”
“I’m honored to join Team Radical,” said Philip Matsakh. “I am eager to begin using Radical’s equipment, I appreciate its quality and unique designs, as well as their commitment to excellence. I view fencing as a team sport, so joining Team Radical perfectly matches my goals on and off the strip. I am grateful for Radical’s support and look forward to being part of Team Radical.”
