If you answered yes to any of these questions, New York Ensemble Classes might be the place for you! NY Ensemble Classes organizes jazz ensembles coached by two instructors

. While an ensemble builds a repertoire, students have the opportunity to explore, learn, practice and improve fundamentals of live jazz performance such as song form; comping; improvising; listening; interplay; soloing; arranging and shaping a performance by controlling dynamics, density and much more. All instruments welcome (including saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drums, percussion, vibraphone, flute, clarinet, oboe, horn, tuba, and strings)

Recently we were asked the same question multiple times so we will write the answer here for everyone to see.

At NY Ensemble Classes the groups are set up like in real life. They are in fact real groups that meet weekly under the guidance of multiple instructors who most of the time play with the students.

If you are a drummer you will be the only drummer, the same goes for pianists and bassists, and we limit the number of harmonic instruments per ensemble to a functional minimum.

We believe that hands-on is the best way to learn, and we are opposed to the idea that gathering as many students as possible in a room is how you teach a jazz performance course.
