On this day 9/10... 22 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. The Gold Shield is an organization of businesses, both large and small, that have pledged to put an end to the Veteran su***de crisis that is occuring in our country.

Through our network of member businesses and Veteran advocates, we are generating an ongoing source of funding to Veteran support organizations. As we grow, so does the amount of funding; as the funding grows, so does the impact of these organizations.

The Gold Shield CAN be the solution to the Veteran su***de crisis.

Howell American Legion in Michigan is helping bring awareness to the ***de epidemic by placing crosses in the ground. They will be placing 22 crosses every day for 30 days to remember the 660 veterans that take their lives in the U.S each month.
