It was thanksgiving time and Chef Samuel Fertik was planning the family menu for the thanksgiving feast. The turkey was a given, stuffing a must but what to do for dessert? Sam pondered, he was sick of making the standard pump
kin pie and apple tart; He wanted something new, more exciting. That’s when the idea struck him, taking inspiration from the timeless sweet potato marshmallow casserole Sam piped a spiced pureed sweet potato mixture into fresh homemade marshmallows (something he’s been making since his campfire days). He paired the spiced sweet potato marshmallow with a dark chocolate ganache and a fresh baked graham cracker. For finishing touches he added delicious candied pecans. The empty plates and the requests for seconds proved that this thanksgiving dessert was a hit! This was only the beginning of flavored gourmet marshmallows…
Over the next three years Sam’s friends and family kept the requests for flavored marshmallows coming. Raspberry for a bridal shower give away, Chocolate Chip for a weekend spent around a campfire with friends, Cookies and Cream for his cousin’s birthday, and an antique metal tin filled with Sam’s classic vanilla marshmallows, sent to a girl to win her heart. With so many requests for marshmallows streaming in, Sam and a team of marshmallow enthusiasts (and refined bakers) opened Sweet Puffs Confectionary Co. Sweet Puffs now offers a variety of flavors of homemade marshmallows from traditional vanilla marshmallow to fresh fruits, nuts, candies and every other combination you can think of. Try one of our flavor combinations for yourself or create your own custom flavors, even including your own logo and unique packaging! They are a great gift to send to friends, give out at a party, to bring on your next camping trip with your kids, to sweeten up the office, or even to send to a girl!..... It worked for Sam.
