⚠️Event Alert⚠️ May 16th, 7:30pm⚠️ Interested in bigwall climbing a driving distance from the Gunks?! Join Ben Hoste () as he presents about his time climbing at Cap Trinité in Quebec!
After learning of Cap Trinité, while searching for bigwalls in driving distance from the Gunks, Ben Hoste made his first trip to Cap Trinité in 2023. He’s since returned twice more, climbing both established classics and completing a new aid line with Quebec climber Patrick Brouillard last fall. Their route, Les Topologues (5.9 C3/A2, 300m), follows a natural line up the center of the cliff ascending nearly all new terrain. The crux lies in ascending the beautiful diagonal crack “La Dia” for two pitches, which tested both Ben and Patrick’s will and skill.
Cap Trinité, a 300m cliff plunging directly into the Saguenay River in Quebec, offers unmatched bigwall aid and hard free climbing in the Northeast. The location and position of the cliff provide unmatched beauty and a feeling of remoteness while being exceedingly accessible by hired boat. The cliff is well known in Quebec, but rarely visited by Americans or Canadians outside the region.
Ben Hoste is excited to share photographs from his time in Cap Trinité to both highlight this amazing destination but also to connect with local Gunks climbers interested in bigwall climbing.
