We have lost a remarkable person as a physician and friend Nia Terezakis was an inspiration to generations of people throughout the community. Her knowledge, hard work,, and care were exceptional. May she Rest In Peace.

Dr. Nia Terezakis, a New Orleans dermatologist who was a mentor to two generations of women physicians who specialize in treating skin conditions, died Thursday of cancer at Lambeth House, her stepdaughter, Karen Gundlach, said. She was 90.

We have lost our beloved friend and co-worker. For over three decades Cindy D**e and the Maple Street Children's Book Shop were the center and heart of children's literature in New Orleans. Her dedication, knowledge, and kindness guided generations of young people through the amazing world of books that created a love of reading and continues into this day. Her support of local authors was unparalleled. The gift of her friendship will remain with us always.

A founder of Maple Street Book Shop, Rhoda Norman and her sister changed the face of bookselling in New Orleans. Opening in 1964 Maple Street featured five rooms of paperback books and became the go to spot for the literary community in New Orleans.
Rhoda and her older sister, Mary Stuart Kellogg, decided in the mid-1960s to open a bookstore. They rented a shotgun house in uptown New Orleans, hired a carpenter to build bookshelves, bought books from a book wholesaler, and opened Maple Street Book Shop.

A tremendous loss, Bunny's unique blend of humor, intelligence, and art were a wonderful part of the New Orleans community for over 50 years!

Will Bunn "Bunny" Matthews III, a cartoonist, music reviewer, writer and musician, died Tuesday at Wynhoven Health Care Center in Marrero of complications from cancer. He was 70 years old.

We have lost another New Orleans legend. Bonnie Warren's knowledge of New Orleans architecture and culture was extraordinary , the stories she shared were joyful.and funny. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Warren was a former editor for New Orleans Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens and contributed to many publications, covering food, travel, design and architecture.
