We're back with our weekly feature of the Peacock Fan brocade! Its glowing jewel tones complement other saturated hues. Pull from any of its rich tones, from teal to gold or chocolate brown, to create a complex yet cohesive look.

Brocade is a popular textile for corsetry because of its tight weave and old fashioned charm, and our Corselette is beloved for its easy styling potential.

E is for Edwardian: a turning point in corset history.

At the beginning of the Edwardian era, corsets underwent a major redesign, featuring a straight rather than curved busk. Though the "S-bend" has long been considered controversial, this flat-fronted fit continues to be a preference for the majority of modern corset wearers.

Edwardian shapewear also included "bust improvers" and padding to further exaggerate the stylist silhouette of the era. The corsets ran longer on the hip, originating what is now known as a "longline" style. A longline corset can be fit to any torso length and runs low at the center front, swoops up over the thigh for hip mobility, and curves back down over the side and back hip for addtional support - not unlike our lovely Dollymop line! These styles are popular for pelvic and sacral stability as lower as lower stomach support.

In addition to the Dollymop, we have two bespoke styles inspired by this Edwardian approach: our Underbust Edwardian and its sibling, the Sweetheart Longline. The extra length in these corsets is ideal for those looking to smooth and celebrate fuller hips, as well as for those with narrower hips looking to visually broaden them.

Peacock motifs have long been associated with beauty, luxury, and exceptional craftsmanship. During the Victorian era, they became a hallmark of the Aesthetic Movement, appearing in wallpapers, brocades, and decorative arts as symbols of artistic refinement.

Our Peacock Fan brocade draws from this enduring tradition. The woven fan motifs recall the graceful geometry of unfurled plumage, while shimmering gold threads against a vivid teal ground.

C is for Cups: corsets with true underwire cups for the ultimate lingerie look.

While corsets don’t need three-piece cups or underwires for bust support, it’s a popular choice for aesthetic reasons, creating a more contemporary, “lift and separate,” bust shape.

While some of our other bespoke styles feature additional bust seams for tailoring, the bespoke Adelaide is our only true underwired corset. A delicate, shapely 12-paneled garment, the Adelaide shapes and supports the whole torso, comfortably reducing the waist, smoothing the hips and shaping the breasts.
