We're in the final stretch of our store closing.

February 28th is the last day.

We're running deals on all gear at the store, and prices won't get lower from here.

For example, a Rickenbacker 4005V bass (list $4100) is priced to clear at $3080!

PRS US Silver Sky electrics (list: $2749) is priced to clear at $2102!

The Reverend Sensei RA (list: $1199) is priced to clear at $842!

On February 28th at 6pm, we lock the doors and we, and these deals, will be gone...

STOL AND WHITNEY SALE

"I WOULD RATHER SELL THEM THAN MOVE THEM." That is a quote from Mark Stoleson of Stol Guitars. And I (Whit) agree. What does this mean for you? The Stol guitars and Whitney amps at the Spindrfit Guitars location are on sale. New prices are marked on the tags. This will happen once and then we will move them back to the Stol / Whitney showrooms and return prices to normal.

The blond TremorVerb is not for sale period ever never nuh-uh.

This will continue until February 20 at which time we will move them.

Despite all the activity at the store, the next semester of AMP SCHOOL starts March 9th. I will fill the March 9, 16(taken), 23(taken), and 30th seats. Come see me at the store to claim your seat. We will still be one to one and all lectures and labs will be performed in my studio in Groton, the home of Whitney Amplification.

ALSO, the last day for amp repairs at the Spindrift location will be February 14th. This will give me time to move back to home base and I do not want to carry your amp. Back at it in March at my studio in Groton. I will publish contact info.

CLOSING TIME!

Spindrift Guitars opened our doors and sold our first guitar in February of 2013. Since then, Corey, Whit, Vince and Mike have been thrilled and grateful to serve the musicians of Southeast CT and beyond.

Some notable achievements and service: Corey repaired Bob Dylan’s Gibson guitar. Whit sold a couple of his amps to Trey Anastasio. Mike sold a guitar and bass to Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze...

But our most important and loyal customers have remained the local folks who have supported the shop from day one. We moved up the street to our current location, and survived the lockdown of the Covid pandemic.

In service to our community, Spindrift donated over $10,000 to CT Food Bank, sponsored the Live Lunch at the Hygienic (go Sophie!), sponsored the Mystic Blues Festival for three years, contributed instruments to Guitars for Vets, Pass the Guitar and Hoot for Hunger (go Hugh!) as well as sponsoring numerous music events benefiting Camp Rotary. Gotta give back, you know?!

We enjoyed help from Mike Risberg, who left us to join the band Elder, touring the world and making new music. Mark Stoleson of Stol Guitars made his appearances on Wednesdays as the Guitar Doc until Covid. Lily Glynos was the key figure in developing our early website into an ecommerce site and started our video productions before stepping up to her true calling as a marine biologist for DEEP. Emilio Turner continued the tradition of superior service and sales, manning the pedal counter and planning inventory before moving to Providence to begin a career in finance. It really has been a wonderful ride with many great passengers.

It is said that "All good things must come to an end". Unfortunately, the musical instrument retail industry has changed and the economics that allowed our independent guitar boutique to thrive no longer exist. As a result, we have decided to cease operations on February 28th, 2025.

As for the future: Whit plans to expand Amp School, teaching / holding labs at his studio and will continue to build Stol guitars with Mark Stoleson. Corey will offer his services as an expert luthier at his home shop. And Vince and Mike will still be over here, playing guitars and loving music.

There will be more information to follow, so stay tuned.

We greatly appreciate your business and trust over the years, it has been a pleasure.

Thank you so much!

-The Spindrift Guitars Crew

Had a lovely visit today from the Jamie Mclean Band - talking all things guitars, gear and whether Wish You Were Here was originally played through a Big M**f or not! :)

It was great to hear Jamie trying out a PRS Guitars through our store Whitney Amplification Tremorverb, and testing out some of the Electro-Harmonix variants, as well as the Strymon Flint. Wonderful playing; so many tones.

Jamie and the band are playing The Knickerbocker Music Center in Westerly, RI tonight - so, if you can make it, you owe it to yourself to be there!

The new album ONE AND ONLY, produced by Wilco's Ken Coomer and featuring special guests Sam Bush, Lucie Silvas and Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews Band
