Over the next 3-4 days we are going to experience some extreme temperatures. Because of this weather event, Korte Does It All would like you to keep in mind that your furnace will be working very hard! Your equipment will not be able to keep up 100% and the temperature in your home will likely fall below the set point. Adjusting your thermostat to a higher
temperature will not make a difference. We also recommend if you normally set your temperature back at night or while you are away to NOT do this during this extreme cold. It is probable that your temperature will not recover when you want it to come back up. It is a good idea to pick a temperature and put the thermostat on HOLD until the outside temperature is steadily above 0.
Some tips to help keep you and your family safe and warm.
1) Be sure your filter is clean so as to not restrict airflow.
2) If you have a 90% efficiency or greater furnace, be sure to check your exhaust vent. Snow & ice can buildup and cause the furnace to shut down.
3) You can close vents to unused areas. HOWEVER, be sure there is no plumbing in these areas to avoid frozen pipes.
4) Open cabinet doors to any plumbing on outside walls to help prevent freezing.
5) If you choose to use space heaters...please be careful and follow all manufactures directions for use.
Last but not least, have patience for the HVAC service people. They will be doing everything they can to make sure all of their customers are taken care of.
