The Farmington continues to fish very well despite low summer flows, sitting at 229 cfs combined. Sulphurs are the dominant hatch across most of the river, while Iso patterns and nymphs are becoming increasingly productive. A few smaller BWOs are also mixed in, giving trout plenty to key on throughout the day.
Fish are holding in faster water with good depth and are feeding aggressively. Dry-dropper rigs remain one of the most effective tactics, while swinging flies or letting them lift at the end of the drift continues to trigger strikes. If you're nymphing, lighten up your setup and don't overlook Iso nymphs with a little added movement.
Around the state, smaller streams are fishing well with sulphur activity continuing. Stay stealthy, approach fish from behind, and don't be afraid to size up your flies on freestone rivers.
Warmwater action is in full swing! Smallmouth are crushing frog patterns, big swim flies, and insect-style "wigglies." Fish frogs SLOW for the best results. CT River tributaries are still producing some quality stripers, and carp fishing remains excellent.

The Farmington continues to fish well with flows at 230 cfs. Sulphurs are the star of the show right now, with excellent hatches throughout most of the river. Caddis, March Browns, and Light Cahills are also keeping trout looking up, especially during the evening hours.
Trout are holding in faster summer water and feeding aggressively. Dry-droppers, swung flies, and lighter nymph setups continue to produce, while anglers on smaller freestone streams are finding success by staying stealthy and fishing slightly larger patterns.
Warmwater fishing is red hot. Smallmouth bass are crushing streamers, swim flies, poppers, and frog patterns as they fully transition into summer feeding mode. “Wigglies” fished slowly are also producing. CT River tributaries continue to hold some quality stripers, and carp remain one of the best warmwater targets around.

The Farmington is in great shape with flows at 287 cfs and fishing remains strong. Sulphurs are now active across most of the river, with caddis, March Browns, and Light Cahills providing excellent action. Trout have settled into their summer lies, holding in faster water with depth, and are responding well to dry-droppers, swung flies, and lighter nymph rigs.

Smaller streams around CT are seeing similar sulphur activity. Stay stealthy, approach fish from behind, and don't be afraid to throw slightly larger flies when fishing freestones. Dry-dropper setups continue to shine.

Warmwater fishing is on fire right now. Smallmouth are fully out of their post-spawn funk and are crushing streamers, swim flies, poppers, and "wigglies" fished with slow movements. Tributaries to the CT River are still producing some quality stripers, and carp remain a great target this time of year.

The Farmington is in great shape this week with flows at 268 cfs and fishing has been consistently good. Sulphurs are starting to hatch from New Hartford downstream, while Vitreus remain active in the upper river. Caddis, March Browns, and Light Cahills are all providing plenty of opportunities, especially during the evening hours.

Trout are holding in faster summer water and are feeding aggressively. Dry-droppers, swung flies, and lighter nymph rigs have all been producing fish. If you're fishing smaller freestone streams, don't be afraid to size up your flies a bit—fish are feeding opportunistically and dry-dropper setups have been especially effective.

Warmwater fishing continues to improve. Smallmouth bass are out of their post-spawn funk and are crushing larger swim flies, streamers, and poppers. A popper-dropper rig remains a great option, and anglers fishing CT River tributaries are still running into some quality stripers. Carp fishing is also red hot right now.
