Pictured here is Gordon Perkins (FarmyG) with a really nice brown. New report is up! Check it out at the link below or on our website.
The Farmington continues to fish very well despite low summer flows, sitting at 229 cfs combined. Sulphurs are the dominant hatch across most of the river, while Iso patterns and nymphs are becoming increasingly productive. A few smaller BWOs are also mixed in, giving trout plenty to key on throughout the day.
Fish are holding in faster water with good depth and are feeding aggressively. Dry-dropper rigs remain one of the most effective tactics, while swinging flies or letting them lift at the end of the drift continues to trigger strikes. If you're nymphing, lighten up your setup and don't overlook Iso nymphs with a little added movement.
Around the state, smaller streams are fishing well with sulphur activity continuing. Stay stealthy, approach fish from behind, and don't be afraid to size up your flies on freestone rivers.
Warmwater action is in full swing! Smallmouth are crushing frog patterns, big swim flies, and insect-style "wigglies." Fish frogs SLOW for the best results. CT River tributaries are still producing some quality stripers, and carp fishing remains excellent.
