Ice cold watermelon is one of summer’s greatest pleasures. What’s YOUR favorite way to enjoy it? We love crinkle cut sticks made with our wavy cutter. Bite size watermelon spheres made with a melon baller. Little cubes sprinkled with feta cheese, cracked pepper and a sprig of mint. Fruit “cakes” combined with other summer fruit and edible flowers. Frozen watermelon coolers served in champagne flutes. With our local watermelons ripe and ready, savor every sweet and juicy morsel.

We had a great-tasting celebration of National Ice Cream Day demonstrating how to use the Chef’n Sweet Spot, the Zoku Ice Cream Makers, and the Ninja Master Prep to make ice cream quicker and easier than you ever thought possible. Despite enormous challenges posed by intermittent storms, weather uncertainty, and disruption of our normal paths due to high water, Saturday’s Firefly Festival was magical with events all day and evening. The glow dance party will be held at a later date, but the fireflies lit the night Saturday night with viewing at the Double Log Cabin and our red lanterns (red light doesn’t confuse the fireflies!) illuminated the path, while LED balloons and glow sticks allowed us all to shine bright.

Dance the night away at the free New Harmony Firefly Festival Glow Dance Party!
When: Saturday night, June 27, 8 to 10 pm
Where: Outside the Atheneum Visitor Center
Cost: FREE!
What is it? It is an opportunity for people of all ages to get their glow on! We will have glow sticks available (while supplies last) and you are welcome to bring your own, too. Hype Master C**t Smock will be bringing high energy and DJ Cecilia West will keep the tunes coming.
