Calling all artists! Saltwater is hosting a 12 x 12 juried show. The show’s theme is “Wildflowers” and will run from August 22nd through September 18th. Both 2-D and 3-D works are welcome for submission. Entries are due by August 18th. Go to saltwaterartists.com for registration forms and entry payment.

Woodturner TOM RAYMOND bought his first lathe when he was in high school and in 1995, after retiring from his career of 35 years in engineering, he renewed his interest in turning wood. He upgraded his turning workshop and began creating segmented bowls of varying sizes, some open and some lidded, sometimes utilizing as many as 16 kinds of wood...each a functional piece of art. DOWN EAST ADVENTURES is offering a 2-day immersive Stained Glass Art Workshop led by Saltwater glass artist PAM WILCOX, during which you will be creating a Maine-inspired piece of glass art. The workshop will take place at Stained Glass Express in Manchester, Maine, and is being offered on 2 different dates - August 15-16 or October 24-25. The Comfort Bird Wood Carving Workshop led by wood carving artist JONATHAN LEACH has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 12 (1 - 5 pm). Join us for a 4 hour wood carving workshop at the gallery, where you will use basic wood carving skills to create a “Comfort Bird” (a smooth carving that acts like a “worry stone”). A lifelong creative artist, DOREEN REYNOLDS utilizes a wide range of media, including heirloom found objects, to craft her jewelry, wearable art, and mixed media assemblages. Her pieces cause the viewer to ponder about the stories they suggest or the memories or feelings they evoke. You’ll be able to see Dorren’s artwork, and that of our other 26 member artists daily from 10am-5pm from now through the end of the season on October 16th.

Saltwater Artists Gallery hosted its 4th Annual “Paint the Point” Plein Air event on Saturday, July 18, at the iconic Pemaquid Lighthouse Park. The 24 participating artists spent the day painting the beautiful landscape and architecture of Pemaquid Point. At the end of the day, Waldoboro artist Lisa Kyle chose the following event winning artists: 1st place - Sarah Greenier, Bath, Maine; 2nd place - Linda Whynman, Miguel de Allende, Mexico; 3rd place - Mary Buergin, Poland, Maine; and Honorable Mention - Linda Rowell-Kelley. Many thanks to our participating artists, Lisa Kyle, our volunteers, and our generous sponsors -The Seagull Shop, Salt Bay Framers, First National Bank, Mainely Septic, and First Federal Savings & Loan!
