We have a date! Saturday June 27 will be the official grand re-opening celebration featuring a very special performance (to be announced soon!).

In the meantime, we're busy at work getting everything ready. Once all the carpentry is done (hopefully this weekend?), the front door will be unlocked while I'm here working and you're welcome to come browse. Keep your eyes on this page for soft open hours.

..but it's rather slow. In typical ADHD fashion, I overestimated how long it would take to move everything and grossly underestimated how long it would take to unpack and organize. All of which is to say, there will not be a soft open this weekend.

Thank you for your patience, and special thanks to all the helpers I've had along the way. I appreciate how excited everyone is for Aviary Books 2.0 and I can't wait to share it with you.... maybe next week?

idk if it's just a me thing, but lil bits and bobs tend to pile up on my desk in a happy cacophony. it's such a lovely reminder of all the friends and soon-to-be friends who send mail, visit, or perform at the shop.

my deepest thanks to everyone who has come for a book or a chat or a show (or all three!) and made the bookshop such a special place. I hate packing this stuff up but rest assured it will all find a home in the new space. see you on the other side!

it's hard to portray the scale and density of that mass of boxes...over 200 of them in this photo. it took just over 2 days with 2-4 people working at a time to get the whole shop boxed up.

next up....moving them! (and all the bookcases and furniture 🥵)
