Seven survivors from a Depression-era soda that sold for just 3¢ — about 40% less than the nickel sodas of the day. 💚

The Original 3 Centa Drink was a short-lived Southern soft drink associated with Athens, Georgia bottler Joe Costa. These embossed green bottles date to the mid-1930s into the early 1940s, and several in this group carry LGW / Laurens Glass Works markings along with Patent No. 52423.

Finding one is unusual. Finding seven together — all chip- and crack-free, with several exceptionally clean examples — is what makes this group so special.

Seven “The Original 3 Centa Drink” bottles together.

These are Depression-era Southern soda bottles tied to the Athens, Georgia bottling scene and Joe Costa. The whole idea behind 3 Centa was right there in the name — a 3¢ soft drink during an era when a nickel was the standard soda price.

Several in this group are marked LGW / Laurens Glass Works, and the bottles also carry Patent No. 52423. The brand appears to have had a relatively short life compared with the major soda companies, which is part of why these are so much fun to find today.

What makes this group especially neat is seeing seven together, all chip- and crack-free, with several exceptionally clean examples.

Anyone else have a 3 Centa bottle or a different mold/marking variant? I’d love to see them.
