Wolf Note Studio has been serving Nevada County and the surrounding areas for over 30 years. We repair and restore stringed instruments, as well as build, from guitars to ukuleles and more. We take immense pride in the work we do, and strive to do the very best by our customers. We are open by appointment only, from 9am-1:30pm, so as to have more time to concentrate on providing the highest quality service we can.

Hello friends! A short correction to our J-200 posting. After some more in depth investigating, we have found out that its actually a 1968 edition! Many different styles of the J200 were made in the 60s and 70s, and we had not realized some of the finer details about it. Cheers!

We have some exciting news to share, and that is our restoration of this beautiful early 1968 Gibson J-200 that is looking for a new home. Still has all its original parts and is in very good condition. Has that classic J200 sound from their jumbo body and unique adjustable bridge.

Hello to all you fine folks out there! We've been busy keeping the music alive, but had to pop up our heads to the wide world of facebook to tell you all about a rarity that entered the shop recently. Our dear old friend, Lance McCollum, who sadly passed in 2009, made a little over 300 guitars in his time. Beautiful works of art with incredible voices to match. Recently #38 made its way to us and is up for sale! Its a Grand Auditorium, with Black Walnut from Sacramento for its back and sides, and a Lucky Strike Redwood top, hard case included as well. If you or someone you know would like to come check it out, please give us a call or text to set up an appointment. We'd love to find a home for this rare and beautiful guitar. Cheers!

Tonight! Yes, tonight! Beaucoup Chapeaux will be at the The National Exchange Hotel deep in EuroCafe mode from 6-8pm. �
As some of you know, “Beaucoup Chapeaux” is rather poor French for “Many Hats,” a name that particularly suits us, a metaphor for the many different kinds of musical ensembles each of us plays in at various times, music that doesn’t always fit into any handy boxes but to give you an idea and in alphabetical order: Avant-garde Chamber, Americana, Balkan, Blues, Celtic, EuroCafe, Folk, Jazz, Original, Singer-Songwriter, Symphonic Orchestra, Tango, Traditional, World.

So even though our belief that everyone knew these two French words when we chose the name Beaucoup Chapeaux 12 or so years ago was wildly incorrect, we’ve stuck with it through thick and thin and the many hilarious attempts by others to pronounce it. KVMR DJ Steve Baker holds the award for most ridiculous, with Buckets of Shampoo. But AI is also stepping in as a contender now, the most recent attempt being: Buchu Chapeau.

Not bad.
