Would you like the good news or the bad news first? 😐
So, I usually cringe when someone asks me this question. No one likes to hear bad news…

As many of you know we are remodeling and restoring our historic building as we go, and last week in the literal last stage of demo, we uncovered some bad news. The upstairs (apartment) area of our old girl has some major brick cracking and movement. It can be fixed, but what this means for us is more waiting…

Some of the fix is going to take place in the commercial space beneath the apartments as well, and this means The Local will have to wait until it is completed for opening. We have another expert coming in on the 17th to give us dates but we are now looking at dates into the New Year.

While this was definitely disappointing, we love this old building so much and we want to get her all the help she needs! And do it the right way.

So, while it will be a little longer before we open our doors for good, we had some big plans for ways to pour into our community this Christmas and those will continue! Look for details in the next week for a big Christmas event where we’re going to give you a sneak peek of our space and give away 🎁🎁🎁.
We love you, Neosho! We’ll see you soon!

Be sure and come out today and celebrate the holiday season with all of our friends on the Historic Neosho Square! Christmas time is here!

As The Local is getting ready for opening day, it’s time to introduce our little family!
(Anyone else have a hard time getting a good picture of everyone all at once?! 😜)
Meet McKenna, mom of 3 littles (and called Mom by at least 100 more “adopted” children).
Colson, Libbeigh, and Carter aren’t so little anymore, but together we have created a life of adventure! These kids have a heart for saving mistreated animals, spend practically every moment of free time playing any game with a ball, and make us all laugh until our sides hurt. From chickens to fainting goats to our beloved (and slightly spoiled) miniature schnauzer, Psalm, you’ll often see us with a trail of animals following behind. We are passionate about our community, and that’s where the dream of The Local was born. Together with dozens of businesses and community members, The Local is bringing the olden day general store into the new age. You’ll be able to find a variety of locally grown and baked foods, Missouri-made groceries, and handcrafted items from all our local talents. We are dedicated to helping as many local organizations, businesses and school districts as possible.
This is going to be a wild ride, and we are so excited you’re here to join us! ❤️❤️❤️

Drum roll, please...
Consignment vendor applications are up!!!

If you or a friend build, bake, or craft The Local might be the perfect solution to help get your products into the marketplace! Located in beautiful Neosho, Missouri The Local will be open 6 days a week and 24/7 with online marketing, (unlike craft shows, markets, etc.).
We are looking for anything and everything that has been grown, crafted, written, etc. in our great state of Missouri! From a mom creating crafts in her basement during nap times to corporate or franchise level products, we are looking for you!

All vendors will be selected by a jury panel and an effort will be made to lower competition among vendors. Vending doesn't get easier than this! Vendors will just drop off or ship in their items and The Local staff will take care of set up, selling, shipping to customer, etc.
This is what you've been looking for! Share with a friend!

Just let us know if you have any questions!

Don’t mind me if I look a little crazy today…
This is going to turn into a wall length, floor to ceiling shelving unit. With movable shelves and a library ladder!
But first I have to measure and drill one million and one holes so the shelves can all be at varying heights…
Yes, sometimes small business owners are a little crazy… 😜

A lot of people have noticed our windows are covered by newspapers and magazine ads while we work on the interior… BUT… Have you stopped to actually look at them?
These papers are from The Neosho Daily News in the 1970’s! It’s been so fun to hear the stories people have about this time in Neosho! A few people have even picked out pictures of friends and loved ones!
The advertisements are from ladies’ magazines from the 1960’s. Anyone remember cranberry jelly sandwiches or colored toilet paper?!
Times may have changed, but we are bringing the memories back!!! 😁
Stop by for a glimpse back in time!
