What’s new at Black Sheep Knit? Well, we are introducing our sheep 🐑 (skills) guide!

A couple of teachers got together and brainstormed ways to empower our BSK students as they grow their knitting skills and confidence. The sheep (skills) guide takes you through being a brand new knitter (new sheep) to experienced (black sheep aka so cool we have yet to define it, stay tuned) and some of the key skills we think are good to have before leveling up. Whether you knit with us in the shop, are part of a class, or knit at home we want you to have this tool to track your sheep skills with pride. Did I mention each time you gain a new skill you get a stamp?!

Collect your sheep trackers and stamps next time you’re in the shop! And keep an eye out on the website as we will be using this sheep guide to help you choose which workshops to take!

‼️ New Workshop: Master magic loop

🔔Session details:

In this one day workshop Kathryn or Giavanna will have you knitting magic loop in your sleep. Well not actually, but you’ll leave ready to take on your small circumference project!

This workshop is great for people who are new to the technique or need a refresher. By the end of the session you’ll walk away feeling confident (and you’ll never again lose your 4th double pointed needle 😭).

The before. Today we welcomed 10 knitters into the shop for our Blocking Magic workshop. We played around with both wet and steam blocking on swatches and practiced our skills on a vest that needed a re-block! Tomorrow we will welcome 10 more knitters for the same workshop!

Over the next few months we will be offering colorwork and lined mittens, brioche techniques (hat and shawl), knitting math, toe up socks, and an intensive on cast on and bind off methods!
