hey! quick note to say our new maple looms are in. same fab design as the cherrywood but in this groovy unfinished maple. maple is just a superlative wood. it is so dense but also satiny and soft somehow, a friendly material that wants a high-touch role, hard knocks yes bring them: preschool building-blocks, kitchen tables, bite marks, dents, liquids, a finish that keeps getting shinier and more luminous, maple just happy to be useful and keep on doing its job. thank you wood wizards at for another dreamy manufacturing experience. boomloom x new collar goods 4ever

Great lengths on the Boss from intrepid weaver Carolaina, who has extended her cherrywood loom with long dowels and is using it on an ironing board. She has also made her own shuttles from chopsticks and electrical tape. Strong work!

Optical magic from with the diamond and krokbragd bars. This first one is woven by alternating colors and rows to get that dense weft faced effect. Say you weave a row in white in position 1. then you turn the bar to the opposite position -- which is position 3 -- and weave a row in blue. If you weave in position 2, weave a contrasting row in position 4. Repeat like this and when beaten down the colors will cover the warp. its called bound weave of opposites and I've never done it with three colors -- didn't know you could -- think i might need to try it to understand how to wrangle those! thanks for these beauties jane.
