**UPDATE**

For the last several months, I’ve been exploring the possibilities of DSP within guitar effects that ultimately led me down a completely different path.

Because of this, Retroactive is naturally going through an evolutionary period. I love guitar pedals and I always will, but as a designer I think (at least for now) I’ve outgrow them. This is great news because it means I’m actually learning new skills and pushing myself to be a better designer.

With that being said, I do not have any plans to make guitar based effects any time soon, but I will make better and more interesting instruments and knick knacks for everyone outside of only the guitar space.

What I’m holding here is a very early stage prototype of a handheld SNES inspired synthesizer. I’m not sure if this will be the end product, but for now this thing is so powerful and absolutely rules.

If you were ever interested in a pedal, now is the time to grab one because I likely won’t make any more of my current line up.

I do have plans to potentially make a super bad ass 10 year anniversary Dot Chaser coming up in 2028 though ..

Thanks for reading and looking forward to the future!

If you open the back, you can mic the speaker directly. Feed it synths, Pedals, Drum machines, etc. Then capture a unique sound of crunchy distorted tones directly into your interface.

All of your blown out speaker + microphone sounds in one pedal. Open the back plate to access the speaker for mic’ing and other creative possibilities.

The full Retroactive interview with .pedals is up on YouTube. I’m thankful to Alex for having me as a guest, because he is doing something really cool for the guitar pedal community. Sometimes the Pedal world on social media can feel like a rat race and if you don’t keep up, you are left behind.

Alex is building a community to champion small builders Who may not have the resources to reach many people or to build large batches.

He’s a very laid-back and passionate dude who wants to see small builders succeed. It was nice to rewind and fall back into the perspective of a small Builder instead of getting lost in the social media noise of the ever endless pedal cycle.
