Today, the need to disconnect, to truly decompress; was overwhelming. I felt a deep pull to ground myself, to be near trees again.

In moments like this, I miss my Vermont roots. Wandering through the woods, looking up at the sky as sunlight filters through the branches, warming my face. The smell of the earth. The quiet comfort of leaves and pine needles beneath my feet.

I don’t have that here, not in the same way; but I did the best I could. Stepping away from the noise, unplugging from the world, felt necessary.

Sometimes, you have to stop and let yourself notice something beautiful.

There are people who talk about strength, and then there are people who live it; day after day, even when life throws the unthinkable their way. Kat, you are the latter. You’ve faced trials that would have broken others, yet you stood back up every single time with grit, grace, and a fire that never stops burning.

I have watched you transform obstacles into stepping stones, pain into purpose, and dreams into accomplishments; and every time I think I couldn’t be more proud of you, you go and prove me wrong again.

You are my daughter, but you’re also my best friend… my lifeline. The one who makes me laugh when everything feels heavy, who reminds me what resilience looks like, and who inspires me more than you’ll ever fully know.

Here’s to another year of growth, of joy, of wild possibilities; and to the woman you are becoming: strong, compassionate, determined, brilliant, and unapologetically you.

I went outside last night chasing something I wasn’t even sure I’d see.
And sometimes that’s the beauty of it; even the faintest glow can remind you to keep looking up.
The Aurora showed up just enough to paint the sky with quiet color, blending with the trees, the rooftops, and the familiar Florida night.
It wasn’t dramatic.
It wasn’t bold.
It was gentle, soft, and fleeting… and maybe that’s why it felt so special.
