Why PINK works and how to fish it…
1. Visibility…
Pink maintains visibility in stained and muddy water where other colors fade. Early spring weather brings lots of wind, polen and often rain, all three of which contribute to “lower visibility”. Pink is still visible without being overpowering.
2. Biological triggers…
Pink resembles fish eggs and injured bait fish. Fish feeding behavior is instinctual. And during the spawn when hormones have the fish “mad” at everything, pink can trigger territorial reaction strikes.
3. Contrast…
Pink stands out against dark backgrounds underwater, like brush, timber, vegetation or the color of the water. Making it easier to get the crappie’s attention. Because of the depth UV light spectrums pe*****te the the water, pink appears more vivid than some other colors below the surface .
4. Pressure breaker…
With the amount of pressure crappie get from other fishermen during spawning periods, the fish get wise to popular colors like chartreuse. Dropping pink and black combinations for instance, are sometimes less often seen by pressured fish, resulting in a more aggressive commitment.
What are some of your favorite pink combinations ?
