A collaborative project from BD HEX & Springbar®
For us, the best collaborative projects are the ones that don’t make a lot of sense on the surface. The ones that are a bit unexpected and strange, where finding the connective tissue requires peeling back a few layers.
This project with BD Hex was exactly that—a strange brew steeped from modern rock-climbing culture, alpine climbing heritage, and an old school canvas tent brand.
Bobby Vannoy, the creative force behind BD HEX and SOHI Studios, approached us with an idea for a limited-edition duffle bag made from Springbar tent canvas. He was dreaming of something that would be functional for stowing climbing gear, but where each bag would be hand painted and truly one-of-a-kind.
It was a wild idea, but we’re glad we heard him out.
Bobby splattered, sprayed, stenciled, and double washed every individual piece of canvas. Then we went to work cutting and sewing, using a modified version of our weekender duffle bag pattern. We think the result speaks for itself, and it was a ton of fun along the way.
