Backyard Baits - Tennessee Several years ago I decided I wanted to try fishing for sauger and walleye. To my surprise, I couldn't find anyone or anyplace that carried those type jigs.

I had never vertical fished before so I decided to find some sauger jigs and give it a try. After to doing a little research and talking to several tackle shops I sort of had an idea what they
needed to weigh and what they needed to look like. So I stopped by a local tire shop and got me some used wheel weights and fired up the old turkey fryer. I looked around on ebay and purchased a used mold an

d some nylon hair and started making my own. I have saved some of the first jigs I made and honestly they are a daily
reminder of why I never caught any fish. If you look at them for long you're assured to get a headache. It's my favorite thing to do. I have tied several thousand over the past few years and I never get tired of tying them. Hair Jigs are my second favorite and when the fishing slows down that is where you find me.
