1st Chair String Repair/Sales

Ok, just so everyone knows.....14 months ago my personal page, 1st Chair String Repair/Sales page, email and messenger where hacked and I lost control of them. So I started new pages. Yesterday with the help of classmate Gary Cox who lost his page several months ago helped me recover them. So now I have 2 of each!! I just went through old messages to explain to people why I did not reply to them. My original page is Gregory A. Ludlow and my newer page is Greg Ludlow. My 1st Chair String Repair/Sales original page has my old logo on it and my new 1st Chair String Repair/Sales page has my new logo on it. Thank you all for your understanding.. I am debating if I keep them all up for now and monitor each of them or move on with my new pages......

3/4 bass in for an adjustable bridge installation!

Came in a couple days ago from the Pulaski County Museum to get in display condition. It’s an oldie with the carved lions head scroll. Only the second in 13 years in my shop. I’m doing the work free of charge.

Top and bottom plates have 4” open seams at the very bottom of this violin plus the end button block inside came loose from both top and bottom plates .

Just finished it! New Helicore strings, New ebony bridge, reset soundpost, cleated the top where to me it appears the seam joint was not quite properly aligned. It was not open but I installed 5 cleats to be sure. ¾ Chinese OB-100 Top solid wood, the rest laminate? Bought NEW from Amati’s Fine Instruments - $1544.36 Case Included, Bow $75 French or German style

I recently bought 8 new violins, four cellos and this bass. I got terrific below wholesale price on them because of some minor cosmetic defects, open seam, broken corner tip and open crack, etc. I love the repair side of this and happy to fix them.
Soon I’ll have them all ready to play for their 1st time! The prices will be well below retail and slightly above wholesale. They all come as an outfit as do all my instruments. The outfit includes along with the instruments a case, bow, rosin and wiping cloth.
Make an appointment to come try any of these or any of my 200 violins, violas, cellos and basses of all sizes. Before you rent see me please, you’ll find in 6-8 months of renting you could owned one of mine!
My motto is: if you want to spend more, you’ll need to go somewhere else!
Here pictured , I’m fitting the feet of an adjustable bridge to this bass. It came with a fitted solid bridge but I’m finding the adjustable bridges are most popular to be able heighten or lower the strings based on season atmospheres and different styles of music, or arco vs pizzicato style.
