If you think carrying your pepper spray or any other self defense weapon inside your purse or bag will assist you in a surprise ambush attack, think again. A 600 # grizzly bear was able sneak up and close distance on these two, who had bear spray but couldn’t get it to per the report. If a 600 # bear is that sneaky, think about one lone bad actor that has preplanned their attack, and your the victim.

Our passion at K-Rune is helping to make people safer. Whether it’s mental preparation, physical skills, learning how to prepare for crisis, we want to make sure our communities are ready.

We have done Active Shooter seminars in the past. Personal it’s one of my favorite courses to teach and this is why. So many people have the attitude of “it’ll never happen to me” or “it’ll never happen where I’m at”. Then when it does, I see panic, fear (all normal) and an uncertainty on what to do. And this brings me to my point.

Paramount currently is showing a documentary called 11 Minutes. It’s about the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Vegas. I highly recommend you watch this. as a first responder I can’t imagine hearing what came over their radio. The chaos and fear. There are so many great learning points in the show. It’s our job to take this type of tragedy and learn from it. We grieve for the loses and we learn from what people did, and didn’t do, and we take what we learn and try to be ready when it happens to us.

If you’ve never taken an Active Shooter/Mass Shooting training course or seminar you need to. The amount of adrenaline that is dumped into your blood stream in an event like this can be paralyzing without proper preparation. And the last thing you want to do is freeze.

Stay tuned for some future courses. If you go to the grocery store, the park, the gym, concerts, coffee shops, sporting events, or anywhere outside your home. Then you owe it to your family and your friends to take the steps to be prepared.
