A beautiful instrument in the hands of one of our own.

Laurie, our print specialist here at West Valley Music, spent some time demoing the Muramatsu EX flute—and it was an absolute joy to hear. The EX offers a rich, warm core with incredible depth and projection, paired with the refined response and craftsmanship Muramatsu is known for. It’s a flute that feels just as expressive in intimate settings as it does in larger performance spaces.

And it couldn’t come at a better time—April is Flute Month at West Valley Music. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore new instruments, repertoire, and everything flute.

Hearing Laurie bring out the color and nuance of this instrument was a reminder of how inspiring the right setup can be—especially when it’s in the hands of someone who’s part of our team.

Great players make great horns come alive.

We recently had in the shop putting the Adams A1 V2 trumpet through its paces, and it was something to hear. The A1 V2 offers a brilliant, focused sound with exceptional slotting and projection, while still allowing the flexibility and color modern players demand. It’s a horn that feels equally at home in a section, commercial setting, or solo spotlight.

New to the shop and already getting some serious attention.

The Yamaha YSL-891Z trombone has officially joined our lineup at West Valley Music. Designed with the modern jazz player in mind, the 891Z offers a quick, lively response, beautifully centered tone, and the kind of flexibility that makes phrasing feel effortless. Whether you’re playing lead in a big band or shaping a lyrical solo, this horn delivers clarity, color, and projection.

We’re excited to have this model in store and even more excited that it’s currently being demoed by Joseph Yang. Come by, hear it up close, and take it for a test drive yourself.
