I was in a local store looking for "earbuds with a mic" to plug into my laptop for an upcoming podcast I will be on. I had a confusing conversation with the young man who was showing me different options.I took notes on how they work, etc., not fully grasping the terminology. When we decided on a set, I thanked him for his help and said, "I don't fully grasp what you are telling me, but I wrote it down so I can muddle through."
He was a nice 20 yr old kid and softly said, " That's ok. You were writing in cursive. I have no idea what you wrote down." I cannot read cursive.
It was no pb. for me to use the earbuds when I got home. But it is a big problem that our written language is not understood by the next generation!
What are we going to do about this?
