If "vintage is better" were actually true, the world's best pianists — the people whose entire career depends on the instrument under their hands — would be seeking out 75-year-old Steinways for their performances.
They're not. Roughly 95% of concert pianists worldwide choose to perform on a new Steinway. So do the conservatories and symphonies training the next generation.
