I’ve been really into these plaster gothic architecture reproductions lately.

Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday.
We still have a few things for dear ol’ dad.
Pop by if you get the chance.

You know it’s going to be a good day when 1018 Travels walks through your door.

There are always smiles and wonderment as the group enters in, and the shop is soon filled with plenty of laughter and happiness.

What is 1018Travels, you ask?

Well, it is a local business that hosts day trips all over Ohio and surrounding states.

They are an adventuring and exploring group, often going on shopping trips, seeing live shows, or taking riverboat cruises.

Each trip is planned with care to foster friendship and community.

If you have a special spark of curiosity, go visit their page here on Facebook and look into it.

Take care,
Miss Petitgrain

Father’s Day is in June.
It would be nice to get him a gift.
Assuming he has a face,
here is some face stuff.

It’s a funny thing, I’ve had Bailiwick’s open nigh on seven years now and I have never been to a downtown event.

Sure I’ve participated in most, and even planned and executed a few, but I, personally, have never been to one.

It is First Friday today, and as we are off the main drag, we historically tend to have considerably low to no traffic with these types of events.
So, I have decided to close at regular hours today (5pm for those not in the know), and go down to see what all the fuss is about.

If you see Clem and I out and about tonight, be sure to tip your hat to your old pal Bailiwick.

We received a postcard from our own Joe college the other day.
Old sport and dear one to the Bailiwick dynasty that he is, sent a short note checking in, regaling us with his many adventures.
It got me thinking about writing, and patience and the subtle excited stillness of an analog existence.
While it is something that I have maintained over the years, it is always interesting to me when young people come into the shop to buy dip pens and journals and other implements of the long form narrative.
Though we may ever be slouching towards digital oblivion, we can always count on the young ones to pause, and explore that which was.

Welp… it’s the last Saturday of the month, which means our friends at Half Baked will be hosting Spoken Saturday

As much as I have a million words bouncing around in my head, loudly and always, I can’t seem to put pen to paper.
I will, however, be there with an unaccustomed quietness, but nevertheless enthusiastic.

Come speak your peace.

Tell a joke or story, read a poem, do a monologue, or wax philosophic on the joys of eating cheese.

6pm at Half Baked a free event.

Clem suggested that we do a new segment for the program called Tea with Bailiwick and Petitgrain, where we discuss all things shop-y.
It runs a bit long, so those of you with a 3 to 5 second scroll threshold, what theme might you like to see for the shop anniversary?

Opinions on bathing seem to vary widely.

Some prefer to shower.
Some shower then bathe.
Some bathe then shower,
and then there are those of us who simply bob along with all manner of floating plant debris and salt.

Of our bath salts, this one is my favorite.

It’s called Human Soup.

Made of calendula, rosemary, bay and sea salt, it is nurturing and healing for the skin.

I rather like the idea of stewing for a bit.
If the water is hot enough, feel free to throw in a potato or two and have yourself an experience.
