The CuriosiTea Bookshop

The CuriosiTea Bookshop Sanpete County's newest bookstore. Only open Sat 11-4 until we move to our new location at 49 W Main in August of 2026. Sanpete County's newest bookshop!

We sell new, used, and vintage books as well as teas and vintage teaware, some toys & gifts. The CuriosiTea Bookshop is the gift shop for the Hub City Gallery and the Official Bookseller for the MPHNA, as such, we are located by them upstairs (no elevator, sadly) in the old Mount Pleasant City Hall Building at 115 W Main in Mount Pleasant. We sell new and used books, teas, gifts, and snacks. We ar

e currently open every Tuesday night from 5-9, every Saturday from 11-4, and every 1st and 3rd Sunday from 11-4. I also do off-site events (look for my booth at the Scandinavian Days in Ephraim in the Spring!)

I want to create a space for learning and exploring stories and ideas while enjoying the simple things in life, like drinking a warm beverage and reading a good book in a cozy space with good company. If all goes well, I would love to expand into a more prominent space with a small tearoom. Thanks for your support of literacy in Sanpete County!

We are making a lot of progress on the new building! We chose light fixtures, paint colors, and wallpaper. The wood is the original meat locker when it was a grocery store. I am stripping layers of paint to restore the wood.

But are there too many green bookstores and why does it just seem the right color for them? It has always been my favorite color but so many of the new bookstores in Utah have green as a main color—Folkore books in Midway, Planted in Pages in Provo, Poppy’s books in Spanish Fork and many in other states. Is there a different color better for bookstores? What do you think of what we have so far?

The new Animal Farm movie is coming out May 1!

Plenty of time to read the book again (or for the first time) before then. The ebook is available for just $0.99 right now and includes a second Orwell book. Can be read on any Apple or Android device.

Just started reading Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell today as I’ve heard really good things about both the book and the movie but I want to make sure I read the book before watching the film.

If you have read it, what did you think of it? And did you enjoy the film?

If you have stated reading another book you are enjoying, drop it in the comments so we can all add it to our TBR lists.

Who has jumped on the Beth Brower Bandwagon (couldn’t resist the alliteration)?

Just finished reading volume 1 of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion today and we now have the full series in stock.

If you want a lot of action or spicy romance or something super fast-paced this might not be for you. But if you want a cozy read to immerse yourself in Victorian England while distracting yourself from reality and drinking a warm cup of tea (not optional) then I would recommend these. I can’t wait to start volume two. Just a fun light-hearted read.

And bonus, is a Utah author too.

We just want to introduce our new booksellers, Kristin and Cynthia!

We received so many great applications and we’re sad we could only hire 2 right now but I know that both Cynthia and Kristin will be great additions to our staff and will allow us to be open a lot more once we move into our new building.

Next week they are beginning a Professional Bookseller Certification course (bet you didn’t know that was a thing) so they will be even more prepared than they already are to help you find the best stories and to build our community with an amazing third space.

So give them a big welcome!

I hope you are all as excited about the new building as we are even though it is taking longer than we had planned. We have the new HVAC system in and have gotten started on the new ADA bathroom but none of that is much to look at yet.

However, the short term rental in the upstairs is getting so close to being finished! Here are a few of my favorite details:

1. Original and functional transom windows. The hardware had all been painted over multiple times so we had to remove it, strip all of the paint, before reinstalling.

2. Dust corners! These are reproductions we installed on the stairs. I love the look of them but they actually do make sweeping the stairs much easier.

3. The reproduction lion handrail supports. They make me happy!

4. The brass chandelier on a dimmer with a medallion.

5. So much original woodwork and flooring!
6. And this bathroom that is almost finished which we attempted to decorate in a Victorian style in keeping with the 1893 year in which the building was erected.

Hope you enjoy this little update. Once construction is done, we will be all about the books again.
